The BBC didnt need to apologise for this. It was the personal musings of a theologian on thought for the day. This is yet another attack on freedom of speech and freedom of the press. If people cannot discuss things because they hurt a politician’s feelings that’s stepping into dangerously authoritarian territory.
It doesnt matter what he said, if it wasnt breaking the law he has every right to say it and have it challenged and discussed. Cant say you’re against cancelling and pro freedom of speech if you dont apply it equally.

“We’re really sorry this man accused that other man of something that he absolutely 100% is guilty of”
What actually is the point of this apology? To stop them being sued?

The contributor was speaking correctly and accurately.
Jenrick was speaking xenophobicly, dog whistling to far right thugs and criminals.
He’s doing Farage’s job of inciting violence.
No apology was needed.

God, just make him leader already. Every time he opens his mouth it’s just fatuous virtue signalling to show he’s ready for the job.

Jenrick? A man guilty of insider dealing (held back tax last so his mate could make money) ? A man that painted over murals designed to make children less scared? That Jenrick?
He can do one… Vile …

BBC electoral manipulation.
Migration control is overhyped for political gain, diverting attention from deeper, more damaging issues like housing shortages, low productivity, and climate risks.

>He quoted a line from the Conservative politican that said: “I certainly don’t want my children to share a neighbourhood with men from backward countries who broke into Britain illegally and about whom we know next to nothing.”
>Dr Kandiah continued: “These words echo a fear many have absorbed – fear of the stranger. The technical name for this is xenophobia. All phobias are, by definition, irrational. Nevertheless, they have a huge impact.”
Jenrick’s words were indisputably xenophobic, there is nothing to apologise for?

Ah, Robert Jenrick, the Ghoul that painted over Disney Characters in a children’s reception centre because they were ” too welcoming.” What an absolute Cvnt.

The madness about all this renewed focus on this issue being publicized with Jenrick is… This bloke was the fucking Immigration Minister while this crisis was kicking off!
And his one sole mea culpa is that he quit claiming that he couldn’t go far enough with what he was already doing. But what was he doing? He was taking fucking backhanders and then wasting everyone’s time with performative shite like his little trip tearing down children’s cartoons, and colossal amounts of all of our money with stupid hare-brained projects like the Rwanda deal, which of course wasn’t even his idea anyway.
Its fucking insane this country is literally *on fire* right now because we’ve wasted 4 years after such a serious crisis basically pussyfooting about while a conga-line of Tories play out their little psychodrama bullshit on stage instead of actually governing a multi-trillion pound economy of tens of millions of people. And within barely 12 months apparently everyone’s totally forgotten that and we’re right back to square one. Fuck off.

The defence to defamation is the truth. However, the BBC is the court here, so f@ck debate.
