Not ending the cost of living crisis or lifting families out of poverty then Rachel?
Sounds about right.

So growing the economy? She’s done so well so far what could possibly go wrong.

You will take that promotion because there’s nowhere to hide it comrade!

Something tells me this is going to be less about forcing companies to invest in more training and improving staff motivation, than it will be attacking the disabled and throwing tax payer money into the AI blackhole.

Here come some more headlines with “unexpected” as the first word when it relates to anything in the economy.

Maybe you can make it so that I see more than 35% of any extra money I earn, so I’ve got an incentive to work more hours?

Yeah she should be trying to boost her productivity and that of the rest of the cunts in parliament, glad to see that she’s finally admitted that they need to do some work.

Boosting productivity roughly translates to pissing off working people I’m guessing

Some meaningless waffle of promised private sector investment which never materialises most probably. The country is on its arse big tax rises are needed just to get a grip on day to day spending there’s no money for massive government investments.

Rachel Reeves, Hammer of the disabled. Beating will continue until morale improves and disabled people will work until they die under stress.

It’s going to be difficult for me to be more productive given my housing situation, the political class don’t even bother to solve the basic issues, let alone more complex things like productivity.
themaskbehindtheman on
Then she’d better make hard work pay, so many up and down the wage spectrum feel hard work no longer means a brighter future. If this part of the social contract is broken, then productivity is going to be down.
It’s no coincidence that productivity is down since 2007/8, we all watched the proverbial hit the fan, through no fault of our own, and have since been stuck with austerity and fiscal drag. Now our national mindset is very much ‘what’s the point?’

And we do this by increasing taxes ??
What incentives are you providing to propel and companies to invest and do more ?

Why do I interpret that as increasing tax and costs onto struggling middle class workers ?

Non productivity tax (via increased National Insurance, Inheritance Tax and income tax)

I don’t think she really gets productivity. Last year she rewarded a public sector that has stagnated for three decades in terms of productivity with bumper pay rises.

The amount of self employed people or businesses only taking or requesting cash over card has massively jumped. Will this be addressed? I doubt it.

First, you would need to teach people what productivity is….I doubt half the country has any idea.
Then stop using middlemen…then the legislation compliance jobs and sector can go. Maybe you might see an increase.

hopefully its not a case of milking the current workforce for higher productivity and more about getting more people into work and having companies invest in actually training people

We spend less than half the European avarage on welfare as a percentage of GDP, and that includes pensions. Our doom cycle is caused by a lack of a safety net not because it’s too generous. But so much stigma and misinformation has been perpetuated for getting on for 2 decades that to even say this is political suicide. The UK has been radicalised against welfare. But its needed for a productive society.

*However, Reeves pushed back against what she called “speculation” over tax increases being explored by the Treasury to close a yawning gap in the public finances that is estimated to reach more than £40bn.*
She can say what she likes but her fiscal rules (which she has said are iron clad) mean she needs to find about £40Billion in tax rises or cuts in day to day spending over the next few years. That is the main priority otherwise the markets will panic.

Good. So don’t do anymore demand-side housing changes so people stop throwing an inordinate amount of money into unproductive assets
