Is it just me, or has the news lately turned into “X politician says Y politician will do Z”?
It’s all quotes about quotes, an echo of an echo, everyone talking over each other and manufacturing their own reality.
The only real security guarantee that USA can provide is if they deploy a few thousand USA troopers to permanently guard the border between Ukraine and ruzzia/Belarus. Anything short of that will stop nothing.
The current administration is going out in less than 4 years. To facilitate peace in Ukraine, pass reforms for NATO, and go through the whole process of joining will take about as much time. So it is a nothingburger.
Even more so while Orban and Fico remain in power and can block it.
It worked so well with the Budapest Memorandum….
Knowing both Trump and Putin i have the impression that this deal will be good for Russia and the US, while they fuck together both Europe and Ukraine, splitting Ukraine in two pieces for them to eat, i hope i’m wrong.

russia will never agree to this lol. Their goal is to occupy and destroy Ukraine. All of it, not just West or Crimea. Any security guarantees will make it harder for russia to achieve its goals.

For all the complaining here – are European countries going to step up and offer security guarantees? Macron has threatened to send troops to help Ukraine but never does, is France going to step up with security guarantees as well? No?
