What on earth is an “Asian Resource Centre”?

Fine them for fly-tipping; one count for each book.

They look like they’re covered in oil, grease and other lubricants.
They must be from the non friction section.
I’m going to sleep now.

I was brought up to regard books as precious things. When I first saw someone on Youtube highlighting sections of a textbook, and writing notes in the margins I thought, no, you can’t do that! Even if (presumably) they owned the book, books are sacred and shouldn’t be damaged.
But now we have the internet, and print on demand services, I suppose that changes the focus slighly. Knowledge is precious, physical books perhaps not quite so much.
I still feel slightly triggered at the sight of thousands of books tossed out on the streets, though. Each one of those could change someone’s life.

The bigger story here is that they are closing a library to save money. That’s the real criminal act. Libraries are far more vital than “Asian resource centre”, which by the looks of it, is proving information and support that is available online for free and easily accessible.
Yes the company responsible for doing this with the books is out of line, but the council is more out of line here.

Those contractors are slimy pieces of shit. It’s not even about books being precious, it’s just the sheer laziness of throwing hundreds of books out on the street like that and literally walking on top of them (presumably man by the sign had to stand on the books to get there). The same books are being reused at the same building! They couldn’t find any containers for them? Like ffs just do your job properly.

Did not know squatters charged rent lmao. What happens if their “tenants” decide to squat in the squatters building?

Maybe the council shouldn’t have closed the library then

The last thing Croydon needed was a closed library.
