A deal means negotiation with trade-offs. Expecting anything else is crazy.
Territory for guaranteed future security can be a great deal for Ukraine.
How many more have to die before trying to find a peaceful solution is seen as an acceptable outcome in all this mess?
EDIT: Obviously this was gonna be a controversial take, hence the downvotes. You cannot ask for NATO to get involved after the war has started but you sure as hell can make a deal IF that happens again. I have Ukrainian friends suffering because of this war. It’s the poor that suffer but fuck them right? Let’s continue the war with no deal because that’s been going great.

If Starmer and the other European leaders have a more credible plan to end the slaughter in Ukraine, it is now imperative they present it. Otherwise, Trump’s plan to accept annexation of a significant part of currently occupied Ukraine territory will be the only game available.
Starmer supports Trump’s initiative because then Starmer can avoid real action. The European leaders seem determined to treat the war as a problem that will somehow sort itself out while they prevaricate. I guess wars of attrition will eventually end, but I doubt it will be the resolution in favor of Ukraine.
I mean, it’s technically correct (the best kind of correct) from two perspectives:
1. We are clearly a few hours closer to the end of the war than we were a few hours ago.
2. The war will be just as over if Ukraine capitulates as if Russia turned its shit around and marched back across the border. The former being what Putin has told his little orange bitch to facilitate probably means Starmer is correct on that score also.
