Does he still think that will stop Russia? Putin will definitely not stop then, but will go further. How can a person who has been president for so long not understand the obvious things?
The fact Trump thinks capitulating to Russia is an actual option that would lead to peace is the biggest public delusion seen for decades.

Everyone’s ignoring Russia’s war economy, their accelerated weapons production and the need for Western energy purchases to pay for it. You can be sure the US and Europe are going to drop Russia’s sanctions and resume oil and gas imports to fund a greater, wider war in Europe.

Trump just parrots what Putin says. This has been a Russian statement for years now, and also said by other allies like Orban.
Trump has been a traitor to the free world since 1987 – when, in full-page newspaper ads, and despite allies already paying through arms purchases and hosting U.S. bases – he demanded direct reimbursement for defense – a stance that would only benefit the USSR.
Guess who Trump visited prior to taking out those ads…

Funny how after everything he’s done so far, the demands made by Russia have not changed at all. In fact, he has offered more to Russia than what they have demanded (minerals, land, etc). What a loser.

As with everything else the last few months:
1. Trump tries or says something crazy
2. It doesn’t work, or doesn’t go as he expected
3. He says or tries an entirely different crazy thing, sometimes in direct opposition to what he said or did in (1)
4. rinse, wash, repeat
After the end of Trump 1.0 there were some hearings about the events of January 6th, and one of his top aides testified that “when Trump suggests something insane, I ask him for a week or so ‘to work on it’; and usually by the time that period ran its course he had either forgotten about it or had changed his mind”.
That’s not an exact quote, but you get the general idea. I wish I could remember who said it, if anyone knows feel free to chime in.

Russia just must retreat from every Ukranian soil including Crimea, a 10 mile no-mans land around the entire ruzzian border, new iron curtain, disconnected from internet etc.

Trump feels like he needs Russia on the US side to counter an ever growing china.
China at the same time needs Russian ports( that are not surrounded by western aligned countries) resources and some tech.
China and the Us know that while Russia may not be at the big boy table they can still tip it one side or the other ,Putin knows this very well.
