I would be fine with this if it was consistent, but it’s not. And the excuse the extra weight will make the post suddenly fall over is bs. If a post falls over because you tied a flag it it, its been fixed in place badly/incompetenly.

Edit : Any council hates the UK so much they remove UK flags while leaving other flags, should not be entitled to collect or receive any UK taxpayer money.

Travel to most European countries, and you’ll see their respective flags proudly on display as a symbol of unity and civic identity.

It seems only in the UK that there’s apparently an aversion to displaying the Union Jack or St. George’s Cross.

According to the latest census , in Tower Hamlet, only 24% identify as white British – 32% identify as Bangladeshi, and 60% are non-white, ethnic minority.

Given these circumstances, you’d expect the council to make accommodations to ensure these flags are displayed across civic centres as a sign of cultural unity and integration.

    3. For those who don’t follow closely, Tower Hamlets council is the shame of London. Pro-cars, pro-bribes, pro-stupid…

The issue for me is who hung the flags there and what was their intent doing it in that area? Seems likely it was done by some sort of far right/white nationalist type group. It’s all well and good saying the English (or British) flag isn’t associated with racism, but it often is.

All it does is encourage even more victimhood among right wingers. The left needs to reclaim these flags, not censor them.

Good, this is England not Northern Ireland. These people have no respect or understanding of English culture. Absolute disgrace to the country. Deport them to Belfast.

    7. GBeebies whining again. Maybe Reform should stick to running their provincial backwaters.

Just the latest distraction plan, more culture war rubbish. The people putting them up know what they are doing and know exactly what’s gonna happen.

“Where flags are attached to council-owned infrastructure without permission, they may be removed as part of routine maintenance.”

Operation Raise the Colours has received a lot of support online from right-wing figures including Tommy Robinson, David Atherton, and Sargon of Akkad.

This is literally nothing. It’s far right figures pulling a stunt to get in the news, and it’s being reported by the far right GB News as something. But it’s nothing.

This is pure right wing culture war stuff that people keep falling for.

Of course we should fly the St George’s cross & Union flag more and have more national pride.

But there is no grand scheme against us. And patriotism means more than just sticking up a flag

The flags were put up on council property (lampposts) without permission from the council. That’s it.

This wouldn’t really be a story if it weren’t for the fact that it took place in Tower Hamlets, since it gives people a chance to wax lyrical about the ethnicities of the councillors. I wouldn’t even be surprised if the flags were put there on purpose to trigger this kind of story – a literal false flag operation.

So massive parts of the article have been debunked and it’s still here.

You would be more informed on what’s really happening if you had read nothing, but GB”news” is here for our post truth dribblers to fly into a rage over.
