    1. Jump SS .lv has been go to for long time, they couple years ago changed to .com domain

    2. It just works. People here often complain about its outdated UI but honestly I prefer it to most modern UIs that you see nowadays.

    3. It’s by far the most popular website for buying/selling cars, electronics, furniture, music instruments, construction services, pets, etc. in Latvia. UI design and filtering system are outdated, but it gets the job done, loads very fast and basically everyone in Latvia knows it regardless of age group.

It’s local alternative for sites like Craigslist, Gumtree, etc.

It’s basically only site like that here in Latvia. It’s pretty good, I even found flat I bought here.

Obviously as everything is done by private sellers and website doesn’t take responsibility for scams, usual caution required.

Another fun fact, design and layout for webpage hasn’t changed almost at all since it went live over 20 years ago. Don’t fix what’s not broken I suppose

    5. It’s the de-facto classifieds portal in Latvia. I’ve bought a car and a house with its help, and even found work once. I’ve sold some items on it as well.

Fairness, accuracy and trust are all over the place, since it’s real humans who post the ads. The good thing is its popularity – you can easily compare prices, check what else the seller has posted, etc. When considering selling something, I usually go to [ss.lv](http://ss.lv) just to gauge the market price for what I have.

The only other alternatives I use are

      * FB marketplace and specific FB groups: communication is usually faster on those
      * Andele Mandele: more tailored for clothing and kids stuff. For some reason I wouldn’t consider buying kids clothing off of [ss.lv](http://ss.lv), but the sellers on Andele garner a reputation and generally sell good quality stuff

It’s so de facto standard that published classified history plays role even in professional value estimates of cars and real estate. Occasionally an alternative pops up attempting to be ‘ss but better’, but they tend to eos and become forgotten in few months or years. (Unless they cater to a specific niche – i.e. [city24.lv](http://city24.lv) is decent for real estate – at the level of market where professional realtors get involved, ss is mix of professional realtors and owners). Handicrafts are, I guess, more commonly sold on etsy OR facebook groups these days.

A ‘don’t fix what’s not broken’ situation – ancient design, but it works.

Userwise it’s as always with private ads – buyer beware. The site doesn’t do any special screening pretty much everyone uses it so the users are exactly as trustworthy (and not) as you’d expect from general public.

About accuracy/ fairness of prices- the price they ask is the price they want. You can get bargains and you can get inadequately overpriced BS. It depends on the supply/ demand and Yourself. If you know what a true price should be, you can haggle. Most of my buyers have haggled and I mostly do it too.
