Hard to belief, there should be way more blue on the map.

This will not make me popular here, but reddit put this on my feed and I lack impulse control.

America has Nvidia, Microsoft, meta, apple, Amazon, google, Harvard, Yale, Stanford, openai, two ocean fortresses, the world’s deepest capital markets, unlimited risk capital for innovative startups, and the global reserve currency.

The relative power of Europe and the US has been painfully apparent over the last couple weeks. Both via the grossly unfair tariff deal the EU just signed and the spectacle of major European heads of state coming to Washington like its an imperial capital with <24 hours notice

I dunno I feel like America is happy to concede on a couple made up metrics

Downvote away because it will make everything I said untrue

Would love to see a source for this.
Which year the data is from will also play a big role for some of the countries here.

Now who has more disposable income on a median basis after taxes, healthcare, and social transfers are accounted for? Oh, the US

Can we start demanding sources for maps like this? Impossible to distinguish fakes from reals otherwise. Also it’s crazy how many comment without even questioning if data are real and where they come from in 2025

Fun fact. 90-95% of US has the same HDI as western EU. The fact that 350 million people in a country has the same HDI as a country with 10-15 million people is impressive on US part.

I guess the only reason American has higher hdi than some of the southern Europe is the purchasing power because I don’t think they have better education nor life expectancy than those countries.
