For the amount of crime that happens at this festival every year they’d be stupid not to use it
Unfortunately, I think they’ll just have to acknowledge Notting Hill is a lose-lose.
Try to police it and enforce stricter rules, they’ll be deemed bigoted kill-joys out to ruin the festival.
Do nothing and something horrible happens, they’ll be chastised for doing nothing beforehand because they’re inherently racist and don’t care about POC lives.
Why not? I love carnival, but the dangerous
element of the crowd is getting more dangerous. They are mostly wrong uns with records and connected to OCGs , so yes please Met police please keep the rest of us safe from them, let me dutty whine in peace
Why not just hold the event in a closed off park and have the event ticket only, it could just be £1 per ticket to cover the cost of the clean-up.
Considering it’s averaged 10 stabbing a year since 2017 it’s probably for the best
People get stabbed at the event why is there even an argument. Hang back and let people go wild and free I guess.

That got moaned about until it became non-existent..
Like ffs, crime prevention and detection are usually aimed at suspected/usual perpetrators,, or known activities of crime….because they will have the desired outcome….like stopping crime or making it less prevalent .

Given the chef and the young mother who were murdered last year, completely innocent, not gang members, just people trying to enjoy the day Met shouldn’t have to defend this.
Any other event where multiple people are stabbed and die every year would have been cancelled long ago. Should just shut it down and save some lives.
Cancel it already. Absolute trash culture that we shouldn’t be promoting + stabbings and deaths every year unlike Pride or basically any other comparable event. There is just no reason to keep this going just because it might upset certain “communities” otherwise
