Eight days isn’t too bad but it will probably go up.
Can’t see them winning.
Many jobs at the bank have no customer facing aspect and don’t need to be in the office. The blanket order to return to office makes no sense in 2025, and is intended to encourage voluntary resignations. I think BOI is just trying to get ahead of a recession without having to pay compensation for dismissal.
Part of the reason I’m not a customer is because I had to keep going into a branch to do things that should be easy online. It’s not 1990 any more.
I hope BOI loses to the union.

Your employer pays your wages and wants you in the office.
Suck it up or leave. That is unless you signed a contract which agreed that you would be working remotely.
Most of us accept that working in the office is more productive tbf.
RTO is being weaponised and used to get around our Redundancy laws
This RTO is a joke. They love to scream about how it’s about collaboration and they feel best work is done in person. Nonsense.
The real reason is they have these massive office buildings with crazy rent that nobody is attending and they can’t get out of their contracts for the building.
AIB not letting people work from hubs or local branches is insane.
Going from fully remote to ~twice a week is honestly rough lol. You’d be so out of practice of commuting and the longer day it entails that the first few months will genuinely be brutal. And I know there will be people saying I’m soft for saying this but it’s true lol, you adapt to the extra 2 hours or so of sleep.
Covid is over. No need at all for people to still be working from home.
I find the rhetoric of
“well Mary has to be on site 5 days a week so John you can’t work from home anymore because it’s unfair”
Mary works customer facing, John works in a office which he barely has to leave…
Have seen this in other industries, like manufacturing…the folks doing the manual work need to be on site and know WFH isn’t an option for them, but the 50 folks in the office dealing with supply chains, ordering, payroll etc don’t need to be on site for the vast majority of their work, and the folks on the floor certainly wouldn’t begrudge them WFH
Bank of Ireland pay seriously below market, it’s not the 90s where staff could buy houses in Dublin. You pay shit and people have to commute from Meath. If you make people commute 6+ hours a week (1.5 hr+ each way twice a week) then they are going to leave. Seriously the quality of staff is declining because the workload and pay is really not market. Lots of roles 40% off market
