They know Trump’s full of shit anyway.
We should be on board with punishing buyers of Russian oil but I imagine the response here will be tepid at best because Trump is going after them. Hell, we should start with no longer importing said oil through India first.
If US want them to stop, they need to take direct action imposing sanctions, if not they are just wasting everyone time.

Biden made a serious mistake in choosing not to impose tariffs/sanctions on India in 2022-2023 when India began this absolutely gargantuan increase in Russian oil imports.
Giving India a pass then in the name of US-India relations to counter China only brought India closer to Russia which then eventually got India to normalize with China in Oct 2024.
Now in 2025, getting India to stop bankrolling Russia is too risky as India seems set to accept a Russia-India-China troika as a counterweight to US & even NATO out of anti-Western sentiment.
The Hindu Nationalist BJP Party in India choosing Russia-China over “bending the knee” to “the Anglos” was an obvious risk in hindsight.

They just had to buy it from Trump’s approved middle men.
This shows that European sanctions are working. Russia is forced to sell oil at ridiculously low prices.
Trump brought the world closer to each other.
Wait till you find out most of that oil finds it way back to Europe and Africa.
