La pressione sull’identità Turk nell’Azerbaigian meridionale è di nuovo all’ordine del giorno. Secondo un rapporto di Gunaz TV il 20 agosto 2025, a un Turk Azerbaijani meridionale è stato negato un certificato di nascita per il suo bambino chiamato “Tanrıya” perché il nome è in Turkic.

      They probably wouldn’t allow the name “Tanrıya” to be given to a child in the Republic of Azerbaijan either.

      Correction, because it’s not “islamic”. You guys do understand majority of persian names are banned in that country too, right?

      I call bs.

      There are tons of accepted turkic names on the list (+500). The thing is, even if the name is not on the list, you can get it approved as long as it is not deemed offensive, etc.

      Nowadays, you can not have a name in any way related to god in any language in iran, not in farsi or any other language unless it is something from early days of Islam such as Abdullah. Any new use of the word God is 100% banned.
