Eleven firearms and forty knives. That’s insane. This is supposed to be a celebration.
They do this every year, arrest drug dealers and known gang members to have them on remand or with bail conditions before the carnival.
Still isn’t enough to dissuade the yearly violence however.
Sounds like StabFest 2025 is going to be a massive one.
I’m curious: how was this Carnival back in the 80s – 90s?
At this point it should just be labelled as “go at your own risk”
There’s no winning. Any attempt at preventative policing will be called racist and any violence that does happen will be blamed on the police not doing enough
Yet again a “mostly peaceful” cultural celebration.
And you just know someone is still going to get stabbed to death just like every other year
