      My favorites:
      > “Europe is the best opportunity we have for a future of peace and security. And as a democracy, it is you, it is us, the Europeans who set the priorities,” Draghi said.

      And

      >  “There is now a political, social, and psychological climate that gives hope for a new kind of political organization. We must learn to cooperate. Rigidity and passivity breed inaction – and that, as wève seen over the last 10-15 years, is Europès worst enemy.”
“**It is not surprising that skepticism toward Europe has reached new heights,” Draghi added. “But it is worth asking what lies at the heart of this skepticism. In my view, it is not directed at the values on which Europe was founded, but rather at the EU’s ability to defend those values.** And that skepticism is partly justified: political structures are designed to address the challenges of their time, and when those challenges change, the structures themselves must change”.

This man always manages to simultaneously clearly point to our faults, and yet give hope. I just wish EU truly listened to him more.

Our biggest problem in the EU, is that the treaties are not up to the challenges that we have, and the will and appetite to changing them simply is not there. Macron was right that a multi speeded EU is needed.

      >“the EU played only a marginal role in peace negotiations over Ukraine”

Absolutely right: Ukraine is fighting for us and paying the fight with ultimate sacrifice.

I think ultimately your opinion only matters if you’re willing to die for it. Everyone knows that the US (and to a lesser degree, other fixed members of the UN security council) will be willing to back their words with force – they have a track record since ww2 of doing so.

I don’t think anyone believes that the EU will act on its words – it lacks the autonomy and the authority to do so, which is why I think people tend to look to France or Germany rather than the EU.

Also tariffs. We basically failed at playing a meaningful role in every recent international crisis. It’s really disappointing.

Meanwhile we continue circlejerking with pointless or harmful legislation (online age verification), even while the US openly shits on past attempts already (see Microsoft and GDPR).

    6. I honestly don’t understand in what pipe dream are Europeans living on, you’ve been conquered.
Your birth rates are not at a maintainable level and dropping more and more per year.
Its really sad and yes, I agree Europe has a general more quality life but in 10/20/50 years Europe will be just an additional 3rd world part of the world.
