On This Day in 1989, two million people joined hands to form a 600km human chain across the Baltic countries. Known as the Baltic Way, this peaceful protest united Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania in their fight for freedom from Soviet rule.
The powerful demonstration symbolized their shared desire for independence and remains a historic moment of unity and resilience in their pursuit of liberty.

Crazy how it was done without any social media or cellphones.

It took me way to long to see the 1989 and I was wondering what current event I missed that would lead to such a big protest.

Goes to show you how small the Baltic states really are. But amazing that they could pull this off nonetheless.

I actually think this event is one of the most impressive heart-warming yet least talked about events in modern history. Sure we balts know about it but barely anyone else knows. Its crazy how without smart phones and internet people took their time to do this.
Maybe its because I am from here but I don’t know I feel like its bigger than its made out to be if that makes sense. (Talking about world wise)
