The Public Opinion Research Center (CVVM) has published a survey on controversial issues in society. Among other things, respondents were asked about their views on abortion, euthanasia, and prostitution. The survey found that 84% of respondents believe that a woman should have the full right to decide whether to have an abortion. A majority of Czechs also support euthanasia.

Abortion: broad support for women’s choice
More than four-fifths of respondents believe that a woman should have the right to independently decide whether to terminate her pregnancy.
Ten percent of the Czech population, however, believe that abortion should be permitted only when health and social considerations regarding the child and woman are taken into account, the survey found. Only 1% of respondents think abortions should be banned outright.
Religion is a factor.
The survey showed that women statistically more often support full decision-making rights regarding abortion compared to men. Another significant factor is religious affiliation. Respondents identifying as Roman Catholic were less likely to support full autonomy for women in abortion decisions compared with respondents with no religious affiliation.

Euthanasia: stronger support among the young
When asked about euthanasia, 41% of the Czech public said they “definitely agree” with its legalization, while another two-fifths said they “rather agree.” On the other hand, 15% of respondents opposed its introduction.
The highest level of support came from people aged 30 to 39. The greatest opposition was expressed by those aged 65 and older. The survey also found that respondents with more liberal views on abortion were more likely to support euthanasia.
“Among those who believe a woman should have the independent right to decide on abortion, 86% also support the introduction of euthanasia into Czech law,” the researchers noted. In total, 1,712 people took part in the survey.

Prostitution: society divided
The survey also examined opinions on prostitution. Respondents were asked which statement about the legal regulation of prostitution in the Czech Republic they most agreed with. Views across society were highly varied.
Two-fifths of respondents believe prostitution does not need to be regulated by law, since existing laws already punish crimes associated with it. More than one-third, however, believe prostitution should be legally permitted and regulated as a trade.
Almost one-sixth of women think that providing sexual services for payment should be prohibited, compared to fewer than six percent of male respondents.
Education also plays a role.
Among people whose highest education level is primary or secondary school without a diploma, almost 15% support banning prostitution. Among people with higher education, the figure is only 9%.
Age differences are evident as well.
Younger respondents are more likely to favor banning or restricting prostitution, while older respondents are more likely to support its legalization or to say there is no need for special legal regulation at all.
Based Czechs.
Why would younger people want to ban or restrict prostitution?
So where are we on the pot gummies?
people should be allowed to choose when to die, I view it as a fundamental human right. Some fucking old people telling someone they are not allowed to die can fuck off.
“Oh yeah, I know that being alive is painful so much that you would rather end it all. But like, I need you to show up at work tomorrow
Hats off Czechs
Seems I am gonna try visiting Czech at some point now:)
Great, when are they going to start voting for parties which support these views instead of Babis and ODS?
Being a largely irreligious society helps, if you don’t believe me look at the percentages in Poland.
Wow Czechs are not Roman Catholic and have brains.
This is hard to believe.
Biggest W I ever saw didn’t know Czechs were this based.
Are those number that striking?
In the Nordics general population is maybe 75-85% pro euthanasia depending on the country and the polling company.
It is really only the medical lobby that is against it.
Imagine it is like that in many countries in Europe.
Those 1% are free to not get abortions. Why does their opinion matter where others are concerned ?
Survey results that actually make me feel hopeful for humanity.
Poland could never 🥲
