It’s actually impressive tbf that they did manage to get the wait times down. Should have been done ages ago but better late than never.

I got invited for my test after just four weeks on the waiting list. Now, they just need to start reducing the wait times for retests. They’re still ten weeks.

I think a lot of us expected the government were talking rubbish as usual when they said they’d get the waiting lists under control. I know I signed up to the waiting list in like May when the projected test date was in like November. With a waiting list that long, you may as well get on the list for when you think you’ll be ready for the test. Instead the first date I got offered was in August. Two reschedules later and my actual test date is very soon. I’ll probably end up failing to be honest since I’d had fewer lessons than I expected due to the test date being two months sooner but I’ll be there to get the test experience.

I suspect the increase is related, though the number of no-shows actually hasn’t increased that much year on year (~5% increase). Still, I suspect this is short lived so long as the test times actually stay under control, as if people believe they can get a test in reasonable time, it will be back to people applying for a test when they’re ready for it.

So I mean, generally, fair play for actually improving a problem.

Why not get people to pay a reasonable deposit which they can get back if they complete the test or cancel more than a day in advance.

No-shows is the easiest problem to solve.
