    1. Extremely sad. Why not get 5k soldiers from each member state and put them in Ukraine?

    2. Heavy_Secret_203 on

Ok, cool, so they could be quickly evacuated when russia attacks again. So many guarantees, such a defence, very strong.

Germany, I say this as an American

..you’ve got to let go of the past.

    4. InCloud44 on

Ofc. Just think, Poland, Romania, Italy, Greece, Finland already said no. They won t send troops in Ukraine.

    5. ExtraMaize5573 on

RuZZia said that they would not like any European troops in Ukraine as it would hinder their war of conquest, threaten the peaceful ways of the Kremlin and escalate the “situation” further.

European leaders spines collectively evaporated and now we are back to sending #hashtags and hand hearts. This all happens while RuZZia has a carte blanche to do how many warcrimes they want.

Before it even started the plan is already dead

I say this as soldier from the US stationed in Germany. Bro, this timeline is dogshit

I dont even know why we keep acting like we give a shit about Ukraine when we clearly dont. At this point im not even sure Europe would give a fuck if a EU country were to be attacked. We are so paralyzed, its disgusting to see

    8. Lanky-Rush607 on

At this point, Europe would rather deport Ukrainian refugees and send them into the meat grinder rather than send its own troops to protect Ukraine.

    9. bukowsky01 on

Well, at this stage very few want to go.

Germany, first economy and most populous nation is apparently stretched too thin by its massive peacetime commitments to deploy a single battalion.

    10. Little_Drive_6042 on

Biggest lol moment in history. It’s been 3+ years and we can’t get Europe to increase its troop count to divide some troops up for Ukraine? Come on guys.

    11. Fastluck83 on

Sorry but this is ridiculous. More soldiers were sent to Afghanistan for the lesser purpose of letting America take revenge on mountain men and that country wasn’t exactly in our neighborhood.

I am so tired of this half-assery.

    12. Bango-TSW on

And I was hoping that Europe would have grown a pair and stood up for its own common defence.

    13. Effectively, Russia gets its wish of very weak security guarantees because European countries just can’t be bothered. It’s pathetic

      >Populist leaders across the continent, including Italy’s Matteo Salvini, have criticized the proposals, and Poland has ruled out sending forces, citing risks of escalation on its borders, The Wall Street Journal claims.

Jesus Christ there are a lot of farmers here.
You know its a good idea if the right wingers are against it and the Reddit trolls come out from under the bridge.

    15. DonFapomar on

And this is AFTER the hypothetical “piss deal” that might never even happen.

Why do Europeans still wonder why less and less countries treat them seriously? At least please stop talking so much, you won’t do anything anyway and it’s fucking annoying.

    16. OliveCompetitive3002 on

Business as usual. European politicians talks brave plan mediocre and deliver nothing.

Time to hand other another medal and another trophy to selensky. This doesn’t cost anything but gives great photos!

    17. Ok_Dust_8620 on

Honestly, I don’t expect anyone to guarantee our future security except us (Ukrainians). Even if Western militaries are initially deployed 400 km away from the front, I wouldn’t expect them to stop the russians from making future advances in the East. russia could announce another so-called special localized military operation, which they would justify by claiming the need to create a new buffer zone somewhere. They would also try to influence local politicians in the countries that eventually decide to send their troops, pushing them to vote for withdrawal under a threat of a nuclear war.

    18. ThirteenthPyramid on

Europeans, turns out they have a lot of will to fight poor refugees, and little will to fight against real threats to their futures.

The relevant part from the WSJ story U24 cited:

      >grandiose plans for a 30,000-strong European peacekeeping mission have been pared back in part because Britain’s army doesn’t have enough manpower. France and the U.K. combined are planning to commit between 6,000 and 10,000 troops. Britain’s involvement, officials say, will likely be focused on maritime and air domains, helping police the skies and seas to deter any Russian encroachment. Any army presence will likely focus on training up Ukrainian ground forces.

    20. The way EU sees Ukraine is purely as a meatshield whose sole purpose of existence is to deter Russia and keep Russia distracted. Not to win the war – just to not loose too much and keep prolonging it.

NATO is completely off the table for Ukraine.
EU membership is also off the table for Ukraine.
All the young and capable workforce has relocated to the EU (Poland specifically), boosting their workforce and economy.
Once the war ends, anyone capable will also leave for the EU, leaving Ukraine brain – drained and workforce – drained.
Financial aid similar to Marshall plan is highly doubtful – The US doesn’t care, and the EU can hardly afford it with all its internal problems.

So what we end up with is a war ravaged country that loses a lot and gets pretty much nothing out of this war. Which is very said for Ukraine, but is how most proxy wars end.
