So while this is mostly dumb anti vaxxers, the gov was very slow on acting on information and doing proper risk management during covid which accelerated the hell out of these anti vaxxers.

Still will be interesting watching a bunch of kids crippled from polio etc in the future and parents complaining because the gov does nothing to help their polio crippled adhd autism child.

      > London lags behind national averages

      > The UKHSA tracks vaccination coverage from April to March, in line with the financial year.

      > Its annual report has also revealed regional variations in the figures – showing London often lagging behind the national average.

      > Overall, 83.7% of five-year-olds have received both MMR vaccines, but just 69.6% of those in the capital have.

This could spiral into a national crisis.

Not vaccinating causes potential for serious disease spread across the nation.

It’s important to note that, as always, the focus is on patients who are to blame but many GPs are simply not giving vaccinations. The GPs get paid to have a patient on their books – if the parent phones up every day and is told to fuck off because they’re too busy or booked up or whatever then the child is unvaccinated.

I had a GP surgery who were “too busy” for everything. Couldn’t do my son’s vaccinations, couldn’t do my routine smear, couldn’t do pregnancy vaccinations either… (and then I’d get a reminder letter saying how important it is and how it’s all my fault). Then you see the headlines that women aren’t attending smears because we’re all scared and naive and stupid, and pregnant women aren’t getting their whooping cough vaccines because we’re all scared and naive and stupid (when, in reality, there’s a global shortage of the vaccine and it’s very hard to actually get), and now (of course) that parents are all scared and naive and stupid so their children aren’t vaccinated.

It’d be interesting to see how much is actually just people who can’t get access – but, for some reason, no one writing the headlines will even consider that option.

Polio and measles called to say thank you.

Your grand parents called to say fuck you.

Serious question – is new migration the cause of this? Hypothesis being that vaccine hesitancy more prevalent in parts of the world where we have seen huge migration from eg sub continent and Africa

This is awful for everybody involved, both directly and indirectly.

If you’re vaccinated once against polio with 2 doses it’s about 90% effective. That’s fine when everyone is vaccinated. But as more people opt (their children) out we should probably start offering 3+ doses.

90% is plenty when no one has polio to give it to me. But a 10% chance of getting polio because the moron next to me on the bus decided he’d take the chance doesn’t sound good to me…

What sort of fucking idiots aren’t getting their kids vaccinated? Do they not realise some awful diseases have been completely eradicated by good hygiene and vaccines?

My wife is a immunisations nurse, working on the team that goes into local schools to make sure kids get their jabs. In recent years she’s noticed a significant increase in parents refusing consent for safe, effective vaccines because of stupid bullshit they read on the internet.

I can’t imagine being dumb enough to risk your child’s life because you want to feel like you have some inside knowledge that all the world’s doctors somehow missed.

    11. InformationNew66 on

It’s a trust issue. Some people didn’t like to be lied about blood clots and other side effects and now trust has been broken.

Why couldn’t doctors be straight and tell people that yes, there is a minimal chance that they’ll be disabled or dead from astrazeneca but it’s still worth it?

    12. Inside-Net-8480 on

I do wanna add to this, getting a vaccine is a fucking pain if you miss the school scheduled ones.

My local GP kept fobbing me off saying “I’d get it at school”. But school kept saying I’d have to get it at the doctors since I had missed when the school did it.

This back on forth went on for months until I was finally able to get my vaccine.

Covid is the reason. vaccines lost credibility with the covid jab. Why are there too many stories of people’s hearts going bad after the jab?

My mum died of a heart attack the morning after taking the jab. Coincidence? Surely not. Why was it legislated that you can’t sue the vaccine companies?

      Trust has been lost.

I fully support vaccination. MMR yeah man get that shit. Fully tested and decades of a good track record. Can’t go wrong.

“Influencers” are definitely playing a part in this

I’m pregnant with my third currently, the midwives have already told me that the vaccination program has changed (I believe it’s being done earlier than before) because of the increase of people not vaccinating and things like measles rising. This is to try protect newborn babies quicker than usual for the parents like myself who aren’t dumb.

My MIL also told me stories from when she was a child at school in the early fifties, of kids who came back after battling things like polio and of the ones who never came back, she’s a staunch believer in vaccines because she saw the devastating effects not vaccinating (or not having the option of vaccinating) has. I think that is what so many people nowadays have forgotten. The diseases we protect against used to kill at an alarming rate and its vaccines that have protected them from experiencing that.

    16. GhostRiders on

Very easy option, kids cannot attend state school if they have not had all their vaccinations (unless there is a clear medical reason).

I’m sure a small segment of parents will complain, fuck them.

Of course this won’t happen because Starmer is a gutless wimp.

    17. Inglorious555 on

Well, they shouldn’t come running when their kids have horrible diseases as a result, they’ll have made their bed so they can sleep in it
