    1. It’s said this computer can accurately predict, to within a decade, when the Metro will be built.

Just make sure it fits in the room before you buy it this time.

I’m confused, why would you buy a computer for which has a limited life for 60m if you can rent for less than 2m a year. Need more power/capacity?, rent a different computer.

Is it me or is his maths awful? 1.5 years of use for 5m or buy it new for 60m. I seriously doubt that new super computer will be worth anything except as a museum piece in 18 years. Continuing to rent time is far more efficient.

Can they not put some extra ram in the voting machine.

Somebody is getting a tax payer pay day. F@ck me. You watch the price of paddy “HAL” and it will presumably be obsolete before they even get it going.
Is this what they are going to use to run chat control and the rest of that surveillance bollox on.

What does supercomputer mean in this context running weather modeling and national scale population data will require serious hardware bit 60 million must be for equipment, instillation, staff and maintenance for a few years

    9. They will but the one from Ant and Decs Saturday night won’t they.

This computer will be twice as powerful as any other computer, 10,000 times larger, and so expensive that only the five richest kings of Europe and the Irish government will own them.

We need the compute. Being in EU, we have access to those shared pool of resources for like weather prediction. But we can better predictions when we host it ourselves.

I think we will get back multiples of that 60m worth back.

Upgrading from Windows XP first would be a step in the right direction

This thing will sort out the arbitration with BAM over the Children’s Hospital in a few hours.

Anyone know if it’s genuinely good kit? Or will they be spending 60m on some piece of junk because some computer illiterate TD was told it was good by a salesman

      This is stupid

Will be obselete in 3 years
They wont pay people with the skills to run it enough money to do it properly

We should be paying someone like AWS / MSFT for sovereign cloud just like any other sensible country
