Men like him built this country
Say what you like about him but he was voted in and now we’re in the future. He kept his word.
He looks like he was supposed to be Jack Nicholson but they ran out of Jack Nicholson when they got down to his brow.

It worked. It’s still working.
If he wasn’t corrupt he was a good leader. He managed to actually push through stuff to get done. He reinvigorated the Irish economy in the late 80s with the IFSC and got arguably one of the most successful tourist areas in Europe, setup, out of a bus yard.
That’s a pond no one wants to fish in.

He received money while in politics for which there was no accounting. At the same time his government was borrowing money to cover current expenditure. He governed at a time of extremely high net emigration. His advice to the young people, through his ministers, was to get a good education and leave because Ireland had nothing to offer them. He made our current lot look highly competent.
