Unfortunately, we are in a proxy war, so this is not enough any more.

Reminder that a simple % over a threshold dosent actually have much to do with military readyness and or power, investiments in training and securing production of key assets (Long range AA missiles, cruise missiles, artillery) does way more.
How many of NATO nations do that or plan to thanks to this new spending? Half a dozen at most, yes if you dont you can make up for it in other stuff, like Poland with its tank production, Sweden with its IFV and AT rockets productions, but some dont even have that.

And we still cannot even deploy more than 5000 troops outside of our own, individual member, borders*
*USA being the only exception.

I’m really curious how they calculated it tough. In Italy for example they boosted the number by calculating the pensions of military personell, that is currently managed by the INPS (a civic and national infrastructure, not militar), considering even the civic police force like Carabinieri, Guardia di Finanza e Guardia Costiera that have no military role, and the payments for military foreign mission, just to boost the number up lol.

We also need to convince Ireland and Austria to participate and do their part.

It can’t be the very first time, has to be the first time since 1990 or something like that.

Among the oldest tasks of modern national states were internal order and security, and defense from external aggression. Given the current situation, I find utopian to think we can do without them.
