The death of banter is something I won’t miss. I’m all for the Bants outside of work but inside work be professional do your job and don’t make others lives miserable because they probably don’t have a choice but to be there. Outside of work people can tell you to do one.

Called female attendants “lovely ladies”. Oh my god, what a monster.

Idiots use banter as a get out clause to be offensive, say sexist remarks and then claim that they’re the victim because the recipient got offended and can’t take a joke.

“sir, ‘lash, gash, and banter’ isn’t a legal defence”

I always reserve all judgement until the actual offence is made clear.
I’ve seen a democratic senator who has spent decades fighting for trans rights labeled transphobic in a headline when his comment was about specifically not wanting trans women in women’s sports, an opinion 80+% of the public agrees with.
So could someone familiar with this issue tell me what the misogynistic comment in question was?
As from what I can see he referred to flight attendants as “lovely ladies” and yes I get there are male flight attendants but you’re literally lying if when you think of the profession (much like nursing) you don’t default to thinking of a young woman

There’s good banter and bad banter, it’s about knowing the appropriate lines in the sand.
Good banter: Me and my bald colleague calling each other bald see you next Tuesdays.
Bad banter: Skinny person making fat jokes at the expense of an overweight colleague.
It’s also about power, I’m much more comfortable bantering with people at the same management level as me. I don’t do it with people below me in the food chain, apart from exceptional circumstances where we know each other well enough that they fully understand they can give it back without recourse. It’s not banter if you’re giving it to them, but they don’t dare do it back!

Pretty tame stuff but still not for the workplace.
Seems like a customer complaint kicked this off though, his colleagues all went along with it.
