It’s gonna end up in a revolution like WWI, only it’s not gonna be a leftist revolution. For being a people so keen on “not repeating the past” they really aren’t self aware, or perhaps just refuse to admit there’s a problem.

      What are they thinking?

Bad economy + unlivable wages + less jobs + more AI

      What could go wrong?

I think importing few more millions of people, destroying your energy sector and taxing the fuck out of your citizens should reverse it np.

Long live Angela Merkel, she should advise Merz to import another million Syrians.

I am one of them. Got a PhD in international business, marketing and organization. It’s incredible rough. Until now 60 applications and about 6 interviews. Often dropped out after the last round.

What the fuck is with all these comments here.

The unemployment rate didn’t move much and currently hovers around 6% – 6.4% which is still better than most european countries ([source](https://www.destatis.de/DE/Themen/Wirtschaft/Konjunkturindikatoren/Arbeitsmarkt/arb210a.html))

While there are indeed more people losing jobs than two years ago, having “more than 3 million people for the first time in a decade” in *nominal terms* is *also* down to the increase in overall population (+3 million in the last decade) ([source](https://www.destatis.de/DE/Themen/Gesellschaft-Umwelt/Bevoelkerung/Bevoelkerungsstand/Tabellen/bevoelkerung-altersgruppen-deutschland.html))

Just like the working population increased from 42.7 million (2014) to 45.8 million (2024) ([source](https://www.destatis.de/DE/Themen/Arbeit/Arbeitsmarkt/Erwerbstaetigkeit/Tabellen/inlaender-inlandskonzept.html)) – You could literally spin this into *”German employmet tops 46 million people for first time in a decade”* with the same logic.

The politicians of Germany are more concerned about Zelesnky and his own army rather than Germans.

What happened to reducing bureaucracy, something the last two chancellors said was critical to fix the German economy

If Germany would ramp up its defense industry like it needs too this would be a non issue

They defended bad industries. Not that surprising

Unemployment rising in Germany and AfD more popular than ever hmmmm

    12. BYD will be the downfall of Germany and German politics. No doubt the German car manufacturer’s inability to compete will somehow become Merz’s fault and the far right will be in power before too long.

    13. Deep_Head4645 on

Isnt this just because the population increased and the unemployment rate stayed the same?

The tone of this sub is meant to breed a feeling of “ Europe is failing and it’s probably because of immigrants and/or something something woke/progressive and also distrust all institutions”, which worked wonderfully in the USA and elsewhere after all.

      What could Germany do though?

They’re highly educated and with great work ethics. Ok so … maybe making cars isn’t going to be it. Ok maybe still luxury cars, but you get my point.

This goes for much of Europe btw.

What do we do and focus on? What are we still, or could be, good at? How do we compete?
