“An angry outburst by US Senator Lindsey Graham at Norway’s sovereign wealth fund over its divestment of Caterpillar Inc. prompted a response by the Nordic nation’s prime minister to explain the government has no role in the fund’s decisions, his office said.
Premier Jonas Gahr Store sent a text message to Graham and got a confirmation that it was received, a spokesperson at prime minister’s office said. Store’s message included information about the fund’s mandate and how its oversight is set up, the spokesperson said.
The Republican Senator lashed out at the $2 trillion sovereign wealth fund – the world’s largest – in two social media posts on X earlier this week, threatening tariffs and visa denials because of its recent divestments from the Texas-based firm.
Norway’s $2 trillion sovereign wealth fund said this week it had sold its holdings in Caterpillar based on Israel’s use of the firm’s bulldozers to destroy Palestinian property in Gaza and in the occupied West Bank. The fund held about $2.1 billion worth of shares in the company as of June 30.
The reaction from the US lawmaker came at a delicate time for the fund and for the Norwegian government. Norway holds parliamentary elections on Sept. 8, and there has been pressure for the fund to divest from Israeli companies contributing to the war in Gaza.
Graham first promised that the fund’s “BS decision” would have consequences, then spoke specifically about tariffs and possible visa denials.
The Trump administration has already placed a 15% tariff on imports from Norway while the two nations remain engaged in trade negotiations.” – Bloomberg

Trump: “I have asked Norway to give 10% of Norway big and beautiful Trillion dollar fund, because they don’t need it and we need it. If Norway refuses, maybe Russia, you know the big bad Russia will invade! I’m not saying it will but if Norway doesn’t want to give us 10%, you know maybe Russia will invade !!!”

In the past Hes called for nuking Gaza.
Hes also been threatening to destroy the Russian economy. Yet it hasn’t happened, because he has no real power.
Hes americas medvedev equivalent.
Him and the rest of his generation are almost dead, and then all US support for Israel will be pulled and you will never hear any outbursts like this again.
The US is about to go from the most pro Israel country to one of the least. Just need a couple more years for these old folks to kick the bucket.

I hope we can stand fast against this new selfish world order.

The irony of the US criticising Norway’s sovereign wealth fund when Trump has literally just set one up.
Countries should not be penalised for making sound financial decisions.

Fuck off lady Lindsey! His state, South Carolina, is one of the most backward states in the US. Perhaps he should be more concerned with the living standards of his constituents than a sovereign wealth fund on the other side of the world.

He’s angry at Norway selling shares in the company because its machines literally bulldozes Palestine homes… Rather than the company that is bulldozing Palestine homes?
