So more than twice the wealth produced in each country 35 years apart that’s quite impressive.
The French Regime, led by Macron, who is worse than a dog, and Bayrou, who has the intelligence of a squirrel, is going to ask the predatory IMF for a €10,000,000,000 loan. Together with their predecessors, they have run France to the ground and have made themselves good money in the process.

Germany and France tracked neck and neck until 2008. Since then growth per capita in France has collapsed while Germany has gradually made progress:

German reunification was in 1989, that probably why German GDP figure is so low. Germany has out preformed France economically since the 1950’s or so.
Germans have been making significantly fewer children than the French on this whole period, thus the German economy have been benefiting from demographic dividend.

there’s a time gap of 35 years. and I don’t think the figures are adjusted according to inflation. meaning both france and germany are fucked. and that just might be the case – just for different reasons.

Germany is doing better economically, but France is having more fun.
Those rankings do not reflect inflation, do they? That means the growth is not that high.

GDP isn’t really a good measure of how a nation is doing. Not saying Germany isn’t ahead of France economically, but GDP on its own doesn’t reflect the health of the working class.
France spent a lot more on defense and energy independence than Germany. It’s the only country in Europe other than Russia with a completely independent home made nuclear deterrent. The UK has its own warheads but uses American missiles and American aircraft. France built nuclear power plants while Germany got Russian gas pipelines. The German choices gave more growth in peace time but made them dependent on both the US and Russia. We will see how this works out in the future.
Both countries are doing fine. Whoever made that chart is not doing fine though. They should get their eyes checked.
