Prepararsi per il peggio suona come una buona strategia. Forse il Canada sta iniziando a prepararsi con un aumento di $ 9 miliardi di spese militari per il prossimo anno. Se solo potessimo reclutare e trattenere i membri.

Edit to clarify- If only we (Canada) could recruit and retain members

Never understood why the Finnish military in 2017 invented a new ‘concept’ wording for Total Defence and started to call it ‘comprehensive security’. So stupid, marketing BS.

    3. I think the challenge for Canada is figuring out what you want to do with your military. Is it for defending against a US invasion? Protecting your coasts and Arctic territory against foreign interference? Heading off to foreign countries to support allies who have been attacked? Invading foreign countries? Does it plan to do these things alone or with foreign support?

The issue is that it’s hard for one military to do all these things. If you want to defend against a US invasion, you probably want a military like Finland’s with a heavy focus on artillery, ground forces, and conscription. If you want to focus on defending your airspace and coasts then you want to look more like Sweden with a substantial navy and air force. If you want to be heading abroad then you want someone more like France or the US with maybe an aircraft carrier and more logistics capabilities.
