Interesting that they quote only the number of boats, not the number of people. Maybe the boats are getting bigger? If its working, though, fair enough.

    2. Still early to tell for sure, but hopefully it’s the beginning of a trend caused by the “1 in, 1 out” system, as well the hostile environment of the last few months.

In terms of number of migrants, it’s the lowest since 2021 for August, if that’s of any interest to anyone

Here’s the actual numbers for each August according to the government data because journalists are lazy these days.

      2018, Boats Arrived, 3, Migrants Arrived, 10

      2019, Boats Arrived, 34, Migrants Arrived, 342

      2020, Boats Arrived, 116, Migrants Arrived, 1470

      2021, Boats Arrived, 99, Migrants Arrived, 3053

      2022, Boats Arrived, 192, Migrants Arrived, 8631

      2023, Boats Arrived, 102, Migrants Arrived, 5369

      2024, Boats Arrived, 75, Migrants Arrived, 4149

      *And here’s July for comparison*

      2018, Boats Arrived, 0, Migrants Arrived, 0

      2019, Boats Arrived, 17, Migrants Arrived, 195

      2020, Boats Arrived, 99, Migrants Arrived, 1111

      2021, Boats Arrived, 130, Migrants Arrived, 3512

      2022, Boats Arrived, 91, Migrants Arrived, 3687

      2023, Boats Arrived, 63, Migrants Arrived, 3299

      2024, Boats Arrived, 58, Migrants Arrived, 3414

      2025, Boats Arrived, 88, Migrants Arrived, 5454

Of course they said nothing when the numbers were up nearly 60% year on year the month before.

Let’s see if the trend continues down or was just a random fluctuation.

Irrelevant as the drop in boats will have nothing to do with the Goverment, and overall, there are more people than ever coming on boats

Maybe post this the boat/immigration obsessed gbeebie sub.

They’ll say it’s lies, but still.

    7. I wonder what this has to do with the customs changes based on the Starmer’s EU reset?

If we’re no longer performing customs checks on trucks from the EU, they’re just going to go back to hopping in the back of trucks at Calais rather than using dinghies, like they did prior to Brexit.
