Wow, that’s really sad to see. Closing over 700 schools isn’t just about empty classrooms, it shows how big the population problem has become. Must be tough on the smaller towns especially.

Remote work could somewhat curb urban migration, yet so many people are against it for some reason.

That’s why we need good legal immigration out state is build on younger generations paying for services for those retire and we need more people to keep it going

A similar story is about to happen or has already happened all over Europe

Who would have thought over a decade of austerity with young people leaving the country because they didn’t see any future for themselves would have lead to this?

At least that worked out well for other countries.

Since politicians are more interested in making more money for them and their friends, this is to be expected.

Expect far worse in the next couple of decades

the same trend we are seeing happening all over the developed world. Everyone racking their brains to latch onto the exact reasons this is happening. It is clearly not just the usual bad economy, poor childcare support etc. since it is also apparent in countries with excellent child support and benefits. Young persons are just choosing not to have babies. Once we have faced the pending issues of how to support this aging population with a diminishing tax base, the world faces a reset that will focus on moving away from this capitalist obsession with “infinite growth”. Hopefully the world will then be a better place. But until now and then hard choices will need to be made as to how our countries will manage to support all their people.

Let’s add that shrinking population is not the only reason for PUBLIC schools to close.
Privatization of education and healthcare has been going on since the crisis due to the memorandum…
What is even worse is that well.known problems across the social structure are being ignored on purpose( very low salary for teachers , doctors public buildings left to rot )
In order to fit in the agenda “look at the public sector it’s rotting we should better sell it because it is only going to be bad from now on”

The austerity had hit hard and there is no real plan to actually save anything in this country rather than sell everything to the lowest(yes) bidder and let the “investments” come in

europe is so fucked. it feels like the end of a civilization

Shrinking of population is normal, we literally do not need humans in a lot of domains and this is only going to be increasing as a phenomenon, there’s no problem with that, trying to push the “omg it’s a disaster, we must do something about that !!!” will only push to failure.

Appropriate the change, of be destroyed by it, EU has a choice, and I’m sure…

… It’s is going to try to fight it, and annihilate itself at the same occasion.

    11. You are young and you don’t know it, but for years we were hammered with the problem of overpopulation in the world.
And those who did it contributed to the brutal drop in birth rates in all countries.
Those same types of people are what are now called “… put what you want here activists”
      Remember it.
