*New consortium says infrastructure projects must be cut back to make beleaguered company viable again*
Truly insane business model, total race to the bottom.
Considering the climate crisis is going to exacerbate droughts and eventually bring climate refugees, they really are prioritising short term profits.

Reeves is keen to keep Thames Water off the public books.
Further lack of investment in the infrastructure that was crumbling anyway seems to be a necessary evil in the Governments eyes to do this.

> It wants to use about £20.5bn of consumers’ cash
So not putting their money where their mouth is, and **not** fixing the crumbling infrastructure that’s the root cause of the issues for their customers.
Ooooooo K.
In the sea with this lot.

If the company isn’t viable, and they can’t meet legal obligations, then their assets have a negative worth and they should be taken into public ownership for £1.
If they refuse, and don’t meet legal obligations, throw them in prison. Seems simple enough. I’d even be okay if we pass a law protecting critical infrastructure that treated it as high treason for custodians of our public infrastructure to wilfully fail to meet obligations.

So just the same as before, not using their own money, not fixing infrastructure and just turn on the tap for tax payers money into shareholders wallets

Labour refusing to resolve the water companies carpetbagging this country is probably the biggest missed open goal of this parliament. No one anywhere on the political spectrum has good things to say about these charlatans. I honestly suspect water company executives are the most hated buisness people in the UK.

By inference, does this mean if Thames water is taken into public ownership, it’s going to saddle the government with an immediate £20.5bn capital investment? Labour are going to need a magic money forest never mind a tree

I am conflicted – who do I hate more? Ofwat? Macquarie? Thames Water? Margaret Thatcher? The people who voted for Margaret Thatcher?
Jesus fucking Christ.

One penny profit from water, not reinvested, is theft.
