They only looked at Elbit and Raytheon – that was the short list.. it’d be hard for it to be much shorter… no wonder MoD procurement is such a complete disaster – pick the biggest, richest names, go to dinner with one that you have connections with, and then give them a cushy deal, while our armed services have crappy accommodation and kit shortages.

Strange article, on the one hand this sort of investigative reporting is great and papers should absolutely be challenging the MoD on perceived conflicts of interest.
On the other hand, there’s a ton of holes here: who is Mike Cooper, does will he have any influence over the contract? What was his role? There are plenty of legitimate reasons for him to be working alongside his supply chain. If he hasn’t broken any rules does that just mean Elbit are lobbying harder than Raytheon?
It feels like this was either meant to be a much stronger article that’s been neutered by the editor, or alternately it’s complete non-story trying to make something out of nothing.
