Have standards dropped so low that the best we can hope for is for gards to do their job?

When you have a bunch of pricks employed, you can never expect it to go well.

Getting a warrant to raid a house for a fifty bag. Honest days work & great use of resources

Plenty of Gardaí looking to do work but aren’t being allowed work the overtime.

Ok, but why would they bother?

If they catch some scumbag committing their 42nd crime, the court will let them off. If they catch somebody with child porn, there’s a pedo judge who will let them off.

We need more jails and longer prison sentences. Then maybe the Guards can actually do a worthwhile job.

Directly throwing shade at your subordinates. That’s a brave strategy cotton.

Not asking for the judges to do an honest days work, instead of leaving off criminals because of over crowded jails or whatever is the excuse of the day. Cant wait to see how it plays out.

Is he referring to the 1,450,000+ breathalyser tests that were “dishonestly recorded” as carried out, but never actually done over a seven-year period, and/or, the lives lost/injuries resulting from Gardai overtly “refusing to do roads policing”..?

    8. If anyone is interested in a laugh, here is a link to the full Crowe report on the antics going on in the Traffic Division:
      [https://www.garda.ie/en/about-us/publications/general-reports/independent-review-of-roads-policing-crowe-report-/independent-review-of-roads-policing-crowe-report-.pdf](https://www.garda.ie/en/about-us/publications/general-reports/independent-review-of-roads-policing-crowe-report-/independent-review-of-roads-policing-crowe-report-.pdf)

I don’t think there is any reason to assume that similar isn’t happening in other divisions.

A couple snippets from the report:
“Individuals… leaving the station at the start of the shift and returning at the end without a single detection made or FCN issued. Some RPU members working solo were alleged to routinely park the patrol car out of sight and deliberately avoid doing any productive work for part or all of their shift”

“We encountered several instances where a supervisor told us that specific RPU members only ever went out on patrol as a pair: they did not work alone, and they rarely worked alongside another partner.”

“We encountered RPU members who appeared to show little interest in detecting road traffic offences; a small number who volunteered that they disliked their job and were eagerly looking forward to retirement; and a small number who seemed disinterested in the fact that their ANPR equipment was switched off or not functioning properly (including one patrol car in which the driver appeared deliberately to switch the direction of the forward-facing ANPR camera so that its field of vision was obscured by the rear-view mirror). Our team was quite shocked that in this admittedly small number of instances, the RPU members concerned were quite open about their lack of interest in being seen to fulfil their duty.”
