How is this possible?. We had a nice week of it, was all.

Irish records only go back to 1900 so in the grand scheme of things, it’s not a very long time.
I see someone has mentioned the record forest fires in Europe this year. That is true but those records only go back 20 years. Not a lot of data to go on there. It’s easy to break records if you only go back 20 years.
However, this was a very warm summer for sure in Ireland. Even today, it was raining but still warm.
I spend some of my time in Northern Italy as well and one day this summer it was 39 degrees. For that part of the country, it was very hot and not normal.

I live in the SE, and the Summer has been noticeably dryer, with more hot days than other summers.
Most local streams have completely dried up, and the ground and plants are under stress. Even the rain we have had over the last week hasn’t translated to streams flowing again. Trees have started shedding leaves in the latter half of August, due to the lack of water.
Farmers are in a panic already as grass is scarce for cattle, and many resorting to sileage already.
