She should cover that up by painting a nice Red Cross.

I think 🤔that the main prime minister starmer, should have a second house lined up, For Starmer & his wife to move into, so they aren’t homelessness, For when they leave office. I think 🤔 this should be put in place for all main prime ministers.

At a time when everyone feels shafted, this is the worst possible timing even if it was a mistake.

Isn’t it dangerous that people can find out where they live so easily? Was it like this with the Tories? I don’t recall having a scooby doo where Priti Patel or Dominic Raab lived but Starmer and Rayner (and lest we forget Corbyn) have home addresses that are basically public domain

It’s shameful what she’s done but defacing property just isn’t the way to get a point across especially when there is platforms like this one or facebook & X etc to air your opinions, we got to do better than this in this country. If HMRC are as quick to jump on her like they’d jump on ordinary folk then fair do’s, but scrawling stuff like this on a wall just shows low class.

I bet whoever did this reads the Daily Mail or some other publication whose owners avoid paying tax

This was actually just a message from HMRC as they find Royal Mails service too unreliable.

Add this to freebiegate, another thing she denied and then admitted.
      Billionaire penthouses in NY.

It was clear when she got in it was her turn to get her nose in the trough.

      She won’t survive this.

In the comments from the neighbours we can see the problem of this country. They are appalled and want the police to catch them. Not appalled by her tax evasion though, she is very nice.

    10. Adventure-Bench on

      Tories love avoiding taxes.

Labour supporters will vote for labour MPs anyway.

I don’t see why this news will hurt her at all.

    11. limeflavoured on

This isn’t okay, regardless of what you think of her actions.

    12. Whichever side of the fence you sit on, this isn’t acceptable.

    13. arabidopsis on

She should of asked Jeremy Hunt how to buy property without causing a public meltdown as a cabinet minister.

    14. Minimum-Geologist-58 on

I really think anybody upset by this is just ignorant. We have the longest most complicated tax code on planet earth. There’s probably one bloke working at KPMG who genuinely fully understands SDLT and he will tell you “a lot of it is a matter of opinion”. HMRC won’t know in a lot of circumstances whether you should be paying tax or not. These kind of things happen constantly in this country because it’s nearly impossible to keep your tax affairs in order if you have anything remotely complicated going on like Rayner.

I dislike her, I dont like what she has done in this situation and I think it is resign worthy.

That said, attacks or vandalism are NEVER acceptable under any circumstance.

No matter how bad a job she does or what scandals she is a part of we should NEVER be in a situation where she fears for her life or her property.

    16. Puzzleheaded_Agent17 on

This is very wrong. Don’t give her anything she can use to turn herself into the victim here.

    17. huntsab2090 on

Did the same tossers vandalise farages house then when he setup a trust to avoid inheritance tax or avoids paying 40% tax on his media work and instead pays half of that by doing a classic tax avoidance method.

Or clarksons farm which is solely purchased to avoid paying tax he should do.

    18. Ffs can we stop fucking graffitiing everything for a couple of minutes please.
Yea, I get the sentient, and I might not agree with all of it, but everything already looks shit so please stop making it look more shit.

    19. Hot_Space_1982 on

“The PM condemns this vandalism in the strongest possible terms.” lol.

and they said crime was down. Meanwhile these type of headlines keep appearing faster than i am typing this comment to keep up.

    21. Not cool, no matter what the crime, damaging an MPs home, their personal space is not on.

Hope they catch the scumbags that did it.

I don’t understand how she can afford that property on an MPs salary.

    22. CurtisInCamden on

Tax troubles after using a trust fund to avoid stamp duty on your 3rd million pound property. Such a typical everyday working-class problem.

    23. Lex_Innokenti on

I’d love to see all the politicians and journalists making the loudest noises about this publish their tax details; I’m sure absolutely none of them have engaged in any ‘creative book-keeping’ whatsoever, right?

I’m not a big fan of Labour, but this all seems pretty over the top. It seems like her situation was pretty non-standard emough with the trust arrangement that several people who deal with property law on a daily basis failed to pick up on it; seems a bit odd to suggest she, somehow, deliberately tried to dodge paying it.

    24. SweatyBadgers on

      The vandalism is wrong.

Fascinating to see so many on here defending her over her tax affairs solely because she’s on their team though. There was none of this understanding when it’s been people on the other team under the microscope.

      Funny, that.

    25. Vdubnub88 on

To be fair, Im fuming too, it’s always the same story with politicians, “rules for thee, but not for me”
If I tried anything even remotely dodgy with stamp duty, I’d be getting a lovely holiday courtesy of HM Prison Service. But when it’s someone in government? Suddenly it’s all “misunderstandings” and “reviews” or “taking bad legal advice”

Amazing how justice in this country comes with a two tier pricing system.
