Ciao ragazzi,

Mi sono appena trasferito in una nuova casa e ci sono alcuni di questi switch di boost sulle pareti e non li ho mai visti prima, qualcuno può illuminarmi su quello che sono?

It’s like Trump’s Diet Coke button. Except you get bars of chocolate

The earth’s orbit naturally widens over time – which makes things colder. When you press this button it boosts the earth to fix it’s orbit and warm things up again.

Lots of people have these, so if you forget to press it shouldn’t be so bad.

Is there mechanical ventilation in the house? Could be a boost for exhaust.

    6. I’ve boost buttons that boost the mechanical ventilation in the bathrooms. Idea is it pulls the moisture out of the air quicker after a shower or during the shower. When you press it you can hear the hum from it get louder if that makes sense.

Since no one has answered properly, im guessing its the ventilation through the house. Do you have ventilation on ceiling in kitchen and bathrooms?

We have new build and they have constant ventilation and can press button to increase it for 10 mins.

Like new new? Do you have mechanical ventilation?

If so press it and listen for a fan speeding up. Fan is likely in the attic if you can’t hear it immediately.

If they’re for boosting a central ventilation fan they’ll probably be near bathrooms, kitchen, utility rooms. Unless you’re the person who built my house and put fucking one boost switch in the least convenient place.

If not it might be a heating or immersion booster.

If there is more than one they are probably for electric heaters/underfloor heating.
If only one it’s usually for the hot water cylinder. Or it could be wired to ventilation.

Look, you live only once, if you see a button, no matter where, even inside a nuclear power plant or a rocket silo, press it. Something should happen. The worst case nothing will happen.

So you are in a house with several random “boost” switches?!

The button says PRESS, so press it. Press them all. I need to know.

It gives compliments when you’re feeling down

Thats probably an immersion heater booster so people dont switch it on and forget to turn it off. Typically it will be connected to a timer set to 15 mins. Enough for a shower.

    14. It heats the hot water . Don’t leave it on or there will be war.

    15. If you have an electronic heating system (air to water heat pump etc. very common new builds due to energy efficiency regulations) it’s probably zonally controlled, and each individual boost button can be used to boost the heat to that room for 30 mins to an hour depending on the settings.

Should be shown in the manuals for the heating system! Did you get a handover pack when you bought the house?

I like all the jokes lol. Sadly it’s just a 10 min HRV boost if you destroy the bathroom, gets rid of the smell quicker. The steam too.

That’s the boost for the spining disc in your electric meter.
