Doamne ce hipstareala penibila
Ideea ca trebuie statul sa vina sa finanteze un hobby nu e foarte productiva, chiar daca hobbyul asta e benefic. Din start era clar ca e un business model falimentar. Oamenii cumpara mult mai rar din librarie, cum nu mai cumpara in general din brick&mortar. Le place atmosfera, vin in librarie, se uita, pleaca. Observ asta la Carturesti, care ii magnetizeaza cu muzica, papetarie, servicii de impachetat etc. Le place un titlu, asteapta discount la tirg, pdful gratuit, sau imprumuta. Libraria e de fapt un instrument de marketing pentru edituri.
Dar nu merita sa te plingi ca realitatea trebuie schimbata ca sa plieze pe ideile tale 🙁
Having said that, da, e pacat ca au trebuit sa inchida. E pacat ca oamenii nu citesc. E pacat ca statul are alte prioritati. Reality bites 🙁
Si pentru context, din Guardian: Denmark abolishes VAT on books – at 25%, the world’s highest rate – in a move set to cost 330m kroner (£38m) a year. The VAT cut is “likely to provide a major boost to book sales in Denmark”, says Mikaela Zabrodsky, CEO of the Swedish Publishers’ Association. In 2002, Sweden slashed VAT on books from 25% to 6%. “That reform made books more accessible, as lower prices meant more people could afford them.”
However, analysis of the Swedish case suggests that extra books were bought by existing readers. And tax lawyer Dan Neidle is generally sceptical that the Danish decision will have the intended effect: “The likely outcome is absolutely that most or even all the benefit will be taken by booksellers and publishers,” he says.
