Yvette Cooper has replaced him as foreign secretary, Shabana Mahmood has replaced her as home secretary, and David Lammy has replaced her as justice secretary.

    2. This is really going to boost their public support ^^^^^^^^^^/s

    3. Twitchas on

What demographic does Lammy appeal to, particularly outside of London, and how big is it?

When I was previously in Labour many years ago I simply couldn’t stand the bloke, honestly think making him Foreign Secretary was one of the worst appointments Starmer made, and somehow he makes the situation worse by making him Deputy PM??

    4. RangoCricket on

At least it’s not Wes Streeting as Deputy, the fucking ghoul.

    5. Ilovellamasandcows on

The David Lammy who lied about the UK suspending arms sales to Israel and hasn’t got a problem with the RAF flying spy flights over Gaza for the IDF

    6. SuperSparSpartan on

But did he mention that his father was a toolmaker?

    7. concretepigeon on

It’s an odd reshuffle when Starmer previously said he wasn’t planning one. The housing sec resigned so he’s reshuffled three of the top four positions seemingly so one could also be his deputy when that’s a role that has no significant real responsibilities anyway.

    8. EphemeraFury on

Keep hitting those home runs Starmer.

      /s if it wasn’t obvious.

    9. spicyketchup2024 on

I can see Sadiq Khan moving into the top echelons once he’s not Mayor of London anymore.

    10. God I’d love to be a fly on the wall of the average Reform voters house right now.

      “Rayners gone!”

“Wait, she’s been replaced by who?!”

    11. After-Temperature585 on

Ah, a man neither liked by left or right.

      Clever

    12. AspirationalChoker on

Hahaha wow, Labour are going to be on their last legs soon with these appointments.

Starmer must be getting his advice from the bastions of UK reddit subs.

    13. So Lammy is demoted from Foreign Sec to Justice Sec but given ‘Deputy PM’ title as well (which has what power?) – Seems strange, doesn’t seem to have done badly.

Who is the new Housing Minister and Local Govt Minister that Rayner both had?

    14. Silent_Mud_1964 on

After a big reshuffle like this, surely if things still don’t start to pick up for labour, the next change has to be at the top

    15. Any-Memory2630 on

      Is this a demotion?

Foreign Secretary is one of the great positions of state. Deputy PM is… Error, not one

    16. welsh_cthulhu on

Always good to have a deputy PM that hates white people.

    17. PhreakyPanda on

Would have been a far better choice to hand the role over to scruffy the janitor ffs

    18. wkavinsky on

Oh, the guy that thinks JD Vance is “a good friend” who he “has much in common with” and loves to go on trips to Israel.

That’ll go down well with the Labour left and centre, not.

    19. DropDeadDigsy on

Jesus wept. They don’t want to be liked at all do they?

    20. Desperate-Excuse9222 on

Lammy the racist POS will not be in long he is a total braindead leftie Liberal shitweasle

    21. shugthedug3 on

      Jesus christ lol

I think Farage might be right about his prediction, this shitshow will not last a full term.

    22. D0wnInAlbion on

The man who thinks Henry VII came the throne after Henry VIII and that Marie Antoinette won a Nobel Prize for her research into radiation.

    23. Employ-Personal on

Ah, looking forward to D Lammy as PM, he is a hugely intelligent and well thought of global political player and course fisherman.

    24. Is Lammy blackmailing Starmer or something? It must be something of that nature because it isn’t his personality, intelligence or competency that got him where he is today.

    25. Dissidant on

Lammy, like “tradies can take their tools on the tube” Lammy? Man is incompetent
Christ almighty Rayner for her faults at least had a foot in the real world and a life before politics
Hopefully its just the non deputy role and nowt else he was a liability as foreign sec anyhow

Utterly disillusioned with the whole lot of them. Won’t go near the tories or reform but Labour need to do better than “less shit than”

    26. ShondaVanda on

Did I miss something, I thought Raylor was elected by the party membership – thats why Starmer could never get rid of her.

If he could not get rid of her, how can he replace her without an election by the party membership?

    27. wishbeaunash on

I know the existence of David Lammy makes both the very online right and left absolutely incandescent which honestly kind of makes me think he must be decent at his job.

    28. vividpup5535 on

It’s a great pick, a long-standing Labour man, with a good record. I check the sub and what do I see? Moans moans Moans. It really is a British thing isn’t it?

    29. you_aint_seen_me- on

Not exactly a pool of seasoned, decent professional politicians to select from.

I say this as someone who voted for this, good luck!

Keith and Dave – two scumbag lawyers who both have no idea……..

      What a woman is!

What war crimes and genocide are.

      Scary eh!

    31. GianfrancoZoey on

Will any brave journalist break ranks and ask our new Deputy PM if he still stands by his (completely unsubstantiated) claim that Hamas ‘raped babies’?

    32. Odd_Net_951 on

Why does Kier keep shooting himself in the foot… again and again with the most obvious shit. No one is going to like this, and he is easy prey for the oligarchs propaganda. The guy is littered with bad news and has never been well liked, especially recently as he is the face of handing over the chagos islands, and having us pay for it. And true or not, he is well renown for being anti british and hounding on about Britain’s colonial past that we must pay for it etc. All of this will just be easy fodder for the pro reform lot. Nice.
