      >on weekdays it will offer two northbound and one southbound service between Glasgow and London

I can see a flaw in this.

Someone needs to. I have had to travel to and from Edinburgh twice a month for the last eight months. It’s incredibly expensive. The only way it’s even remotely affordable is to buy a nonrefundable ticket weeks in advance.

On top of that, I don’t even remember the last time I wasn’t significantly delayed. On the last five trips in a row, I have arrived at my destination well after midnight. The toilets are often locked or out of order or it’s impossible to get to them because of overcrowding. There’s usually nothing to drink.

On the last trip I took National Express and it took 13 hours. The toilets in all of the stations I know of are coin-only. No one carries coins anymore. The cafes in all of the stations we stopped at were shut because they only open during office hours.

Travel within Scotland is great. They just got rid of peak pricing and services are nearly always on time, clean, and not overcrowded. It blows my mind that people in the north of England and who travel between Scotland and southern England put up with such a difficult transportation situation (the delays always happen in the north and always because of avoidable infrastructure and staffing issues). There are people who commute between places like Newcastle, Leeds, Derby. Sheffield, and Birmingham for whom it’s completely normal to arrive home hours late and then have to get up and do it all again the next day, all while paying most of what they earn for a ticket.

      >When booked well in advance, fares from London to Edinburgh start from £19.90, while London to Newcastle start at £17.90.

Wait these prices sound sane, that can’t be right.
