Can you show us on the doll where the woke touched you, sweetie?

    2. Aspect-Unusual on

Ohhh he’s so edgy, £10 says he hums the national anthem while wanking looking at the reform logo

    3. >He said they should be teaching children about the industrial revolution and the First and Second World Wars or the history of medicine in the UK rather than “diversity nonsense”.

Are PSE teachers supposed to be teaching history now or something? I’m confused as to what this is meant to mean?

As for the kid, it sounds like he’s been brain rotted by debate bro culture online and got annoyed that his sixth form teachers wanted to teach him and the rest of the class and not debate him when he disagreed.

    4. No-One-4845 on

I’ll give this lad one thing: he may be proving entirely ineffectual and out of his depth in his role as council leader, but he really has nailed on the ability to hide his utter incompetence by mongering distracting outrage right at the level that works for the average Reform voter. Everything he says is entirely and utterly vapid, without any meaningful substance, moulded out of nonsensical and intangible abstractions. He’ll definitely continue to be a prominent figure on the populist right.

    5. Its sounds like he’s just repeating the words of a 60 year old campaign adviser, lots of old fashion talking points for someone so young.

    6. MattDubh on

That he got into college to know this is a bit surprising.

Don’t they have a minimum level of GCSEs any more?

    7. Acrobatic-Room-9478 on

Sounds like someone didn’t do great with his Sixth Form grades and is projecting.

    8. Frequent-Lock7949 on

I mean it was more than a few years ago but pretty sure my History lessons covered both wars and didn’t talk about being gay. I mean I can check with someone I know who teaches History now but pretty sure it hasn’t deviated that much

    9. harryhardy432 on

This guy is just proving himself to be a joke. I knew like 10 or 20 of these guys in secondary school and they either met a nice person/partner and grew up a bit or went into the trades, genuinely (and that’s not a reflection on trades btw I’m sure there’s some lovely tradesfolk). It’s rare that a guy like this goes into politics and has such a platform.

Parents living vicariously through their children, lacks the self awareness to understand he’s a puppet.

Next he will be telling us that education leads to ugliness and beard growth..

    12. Harrry-Otter on

What are these courses that develop the “woke mindset”? All I really remember from A Level is that I despise circular motion in all its form.

    13. knitscones on

He finds sixth form way above his intelligence levels in other words?

Always blame woke to cover your lack of intelligence?

    14. perscitia on

Reminded of that Pitt the Younger sketch from Blackadder. I assume next he’ll be pursuing tougher sentences against geography teachers.

    15. Dani-Michal on

You’re allowed to NOT go to sixth form. Why is everyone on the reform council underage?

    16. Shockwavepulsar on

First I was annoyed at progressives creating the word woke as if created a brand that that the people used as a stick to berate people who are just asking people not to be shitty to other groups. They tried it with “political correctness gone mad” and “snowflakes” but neither really took off in the zeitgeist but unfortunately “woke” did, probably because it’s only two syllables so is easy to say.

But now I really think it has got to the point where woke doesn’t really mean anything anymore. The right are close to ruining it by over using it.

    17. LungHeadZ on

I’m 31 now and at his age I thought I knew everything already. I don’t know shit even now. He is too young and clearly it’s just a PR stunt aimed at folks his age to be able to ‘realate’ to someone in government.

I have faith in our youth that they’re not this naive themselves.

      Edit: typo

    18. boingwater on

It seems he needs to go college to begin to develop some critical thinking skills

    19. bigzyg33k on

Isn’t it so weird how the more educated you are, the more likely you are to be “woke”? Must be nothing.

    20. ShortNefariousness2 on

Being racist and sexist is what anti woke means. They literally want to allow it in schools.

    21. Too stupid to think of any real policy decisions? Just call something woke!

    22. SmashedWorm64 on

He’s right, at sixth form I learnt about woke subjects like Maths and Physics (they are woke because I’m too thick to understand them). Utter woke nonsense. I even did history – I got woke coverage of the *checks notes* the British experience of warfare from Napoleon to WW1. Woke tosh about some guy with missing limbs commanding the words most powerful navy.

    23. ShoddyPark on

Why must the most ignorant people always try drag everyone else down to their level.

    24. GillianHolroyd1 on

I know plenty of people who didn’t do well at school who blame education and teachers rather than the fact they aren’t very bright and that doesn’t line up with their rather large egos. His vitriol towards teachers is scary.

    25. hadawayandshite on

Wait…so the lad who did A-levels in History, Politics and Law is upset because in Politics they discussed some politics topics and the other students/teachers disagreed with him*

Knowing History and Law no ‘woke stuff’ probably came up in his A-Level. He’s talking about the politics one (and maybe tutorial)

*I’ve known a few politics teachers in my time–some lefties, some right wing (running for conservative councellor, raising gender critical views in staff meetings, one quite religious who actively didn’t like woke topics-I believe he described himself as a paleonationalist)…all of them have taken it on themselves to play devils advocate against student views—they may have made their personal views known (or not) but they certainly always provided both view points

    26. I’m confused. It’s a long time ago for me, but back in the 90’s what we did was A-levels, and YOU chose what A levels you did.

He’s complaining there wasn’t enough practical stuff like design technology and engineering, but a quick google tells me he studied History, Law and Politics.

So he chose 3 subjects which are completely based on waffling nonsense, then complains we need more practical education.

    27. Yuudachi_Houteishiki on

I’ve seen him talk and his whole “story” is that he wanted to become a history teacher and started out in local politics complaining about how history was taught in his school. I don’t know if he’s ever specified what topics they were but he’s claimed they taught blatant falsehoods and ‘diversity nonsense’. I imagine they probably taught a civil rights topic or else did a part focusing on women and minorities in other parts of British history.

It’s bad luck that it turned out this way for him because the way history works in UK schools is teachers (or at least senior teachers) get to choose from a pretty long list of valid topics.

    28. FluffySmiles on

Is it my imagination, or does he resemble Nick Griffin?

    29. EarballsAgain on

      > He said they should be teaching children about the industrial revolution and the First and Second World Wars or the history of medicine in the UK rather than “diversity nonsense”.

Read between the lines here. What he means is not to teach children about those times, he means “Drill blind nationalism into them by rattling off all the things current Nationalists view with rose tinted glasses.”

    30. ArtistEngineer on

But the Industrial Revolution lead to mass **trans**port and electrical **trans**mission! He’ll have to ban them now.

    31. Slobberchops_ on

I’m still waiting to hear a clear and concise definition of what “woke” means. So far I think it means being polite and considerate to other people (not sure what’s wrong with that), but I’m genuinely open to being educated.

    32. all_the_sevens on

“There are some teachers… in our schools who are brainwashing our kids into their way of thinking.

“When we get into power, we will root these teachers out, and hold them to account.”

Pretty sure I learned about this sort of thing in GCSE History.

    33. TwigletX64 on

I just finished sixth form and can confidently say this guy is thorougly talking out his backside. I was one of those wokes in sixth form and the teachers never cared and the lower schools would still try to bully me, sixth form does need a rethink but not in the way this clown suggests.

    34. PhysicalWave454 on

Someone was rejected by the cool gang in school, and now he’s taking out his inadequacies out in the public.

      loser.

    35. gothicshark on

Don’t these people realize the opposite of woke is sleep. They literally are bragging that their eyes are closed and are not thinking for themselves.
