Straight out of the trump play book. I think its everyone’s business if you’re running for PM.

He desperately doesn’t want to reveal the sources of his money and how he dodges tax. One of the reasons for Brexit was that rich people worried about their tax affairs being exposed.

If you aren’t putting yourself forward for public office, Mr Farage, you’re right. It’s nobody’s business but yours.
Once you ask us for our votes, we’re entitled to examine your financial probity as much as we like. You’ve made it our business.

so other MPs tax payments are important and everybody’s business, but his own are not?
makes complete sense

Uhuh … and since he’s a public figure with absolutely nothing to hide, what’s his problem with publishing?
That would something good Starmer could do, make publishing MPs tax affairs a legal requirement. I’m absolutely sure no-one in the House of Commons would have a problem with that

Looks like the frog faced Nazi is sweating a little over this, I wonder why?…. I don’t really, the guy is as crooked as they come.

Raynors was nobody’s business too then I guess? So he won’t bring it up in PMQ or at every other opportunity?

I wonder if he would consider Rayner’s situation of public concern however

If Labour wants to stand a chance they A. Have to prove they can get control of asylum.
B. Have to hammer Farage with questions about his expenses and tax at every opportunity

Because then everyone will be able to see all those rubles flowing into his account.

If your party wants to tell people like me, who pays income tax at 40%, that the country won’t be able to afford pay for my disabled son to get to school because we don’t collect enough tax that it very much is ‘my business’ to know how much tax you are paying on your income.

As with Trump, his followers just won’t care.
Allegedly , sang songs about gassing Jews when at school.
Dont care.
Huge expenses claimed for doing F all at the EU.
Don’t care.
Kept in a luxury flat and chauffeur driven car by …interesting multi-millionaire.
Don’t care.
Won’t release his tax returns because it might make him look dodgy.
Don’t care.
He’s just one of us isn’t he.

Mind you he might as well – why would he think his supporters would care about whatever they revealed?

It’s sad because this is all part of a bigger game.
He knows people don’t like him and won’t vote for him. What he’s hoping to do is get people who like him or are undecided to double down and come vote for him.
So how does refusing to hand out tax info to the press do this? Firstly it gets him in the papers. His name is on the front page. And for something that may or may not be serious/ true.
People who hate him will point to this and push his name onto social media where their family friends will see it. Some will ignore it, some will agree (echo chambers) and some will start arguing back. This is where the doubling down comes in. If someone makes a weak argument- say they push an article with something clearly untrue, this then gets challenged. Maybe farage is harshly treated by the media? Maybe farage does fight those lefties? Maybe farage has done nothing wrong? All of a sudden when he does something that would normally be a scandal people who should care ignore it or defend it because the media would lie.
It’s straight out of the maga playbook and it’s hopefully not going to work here. We surely aren’t that naive are we?
