I notice the article doesn’t mention celebrating at all

Yeah. I’m glad people run theses. But its sad to think we need them. Just shows how cr@p our politicians are at running the country.
We really shouldn’t have multi millionaires and people needing food banks at the same time. The government needs to get a grip on this.

Terrible state of affairs that a country as rich as ours needs things like this. Should be a national embarrassment to have a single one exist.

I hate how normalised they have become. Food banks should not be normal in the sixth wealthiest country in the world.

Just a reminder that the UK has more food banks than McDonald’s locations. There’s white British born billionaires who don’t pay a single pence in taxes, while their greed it’s into everything.
Your rent has been increasing every 6 months, your salary decreasing steadily and everything in your supermarkets gets marked up every year.
All because a few 1% can’t live with the thought of only having ten million pound on their wealth.
I see people queue for these before their full time employment jobs because after rent and commute there’s no money left.

What a sad state of affairs. It is shameful that a food bank had to exist for 25 years. And how this country is running I am sure the food bank will be there to celebrate its 100th birthday. Kudos to the staff and all volunteers who are working tirelessly to feed the people though.

Food banks used to be very rare, even when the economy and unemployment were much worse than today, e.g. in the late 1970’s and the 1980’s. They didn’t even exist during WWII.
So it’s a bit curious how they came about.

It’s lovely that people donate. And it’s a shocking indictment of the UK that anyone has to.
