At this point I can only conclude the Labour Party accidentally hired a Russian FSB shell company as PR advisors, and there’s a guy in Moscow right now saying “Holy shit, Yevgeny, they actually said it”.

If everyone could stop being friends with nonces, defending the actions of nonces and even being nonces, we’d have less of this shit to deal with.

Just stop it. Nonces and noncing really are bad and everyone in power needs to just remember that.

I don’t know any nonces nor have I taken part in noncing. Maybe that’s why I’m not a politician.

Epstein Enthusiasm at the highest levels of the labor party. jesus christ. What next, an official apology for Prince Andrew?

    4. Dramatic_Strategy_95 on

I’m no PR guru but I’m wondering if this is a misstep.

    5. supermegaburt on

Yeah it’s very concerning how quiet this is in the news that the current Ambassador to the United States who is very influential in the Labour Party had a relationship with Epstein which was extremely similar to what Trump had.

      It smells dodgy…

I’m staunch Labour., but their PR team is the reason Jesus changed his middle name to Fucking.

Wes Streeting: For when rock bottom isn’t low enough and you need a man who can keep digging.

    8. Hungry_Horace on

Terrible misleading headline, what Streeting said is nothing like a defence

      > Streeting replied: “Well, I think our ambassador has made it very clear that he deeply regrets ever having been introduced to Epstein.

      > The Labour minister added: “Frankly, given what we all now know about the way he conducted himself and the sort of appalling testimony, we’ve heard from Epstein’s victims who would want to be associated with him, frankly.”

      > Frost then asked for clarification that despite the revelation of the new documents, the UK Government is not considering axing Mandelson from his ambassador role.

      > “No, I don’t think we should regard everyone as guilty by association,” Streeting replied.
He added: “I think that the important thing is, Epstein’s victims receive the justice now and the platform now to tell their stories, to receive the hearing and the justice that comes from transparency and being now able to speak out in a way that.
      > “Sadly, they weren’t able to do [that] while Epstein was alive and it’s really important that victims are believed that they’re given the space to set out their experiences, and that the justice that was not applied to Epstein in life can at least tarnish his name in death.”

The only slightly contentious part is not assuming guilt by association – which I agree with. If evidence emerges that Mandelson knew about the underage trafficking then let’s string him metaphorically up alongside Trump, for whom there is plenty of suggestion of complicity. But I’m not convinced, yet, that a closeted gay man would have been a part of that side of Epstein’s life.

Streeting’s last point is important – we need to listen to the actual victims about what went on and who took part. They’re the ones who know.

Of course he would, the guy is an MP and they all close ranks to keep the closet door firmly shut out of fear the odd skeleton might emerge. This just screams “check his hard drive”.

Sidenote, I saw someguy on here once called StresWeeting and it still makes me chuckle.

My god how low can labour go? Absolutely sickening how they can defend this no wonder starmer has the lowest approval rating ever

Well done Labour. Here’s something else to deal with other than our failing economy

Is there no end to this man’s defence of clear monsters. One might have to question why Wes is so keen to stand with the wrong people in society just to get up the greezy poll of politics

    16. wkavinsky on

How is it even possible in his head to *defend* Mandelson being close personal friends with Epstein.

Fuck, the man uses the same damn language as the orange child rapist to describe him even.

      Wes:

Trans people should be excluded from bathrooms for the safety of women and children.

      Also Wes:

Time to defend the friends of Epstein

      🤔

    18. BobBobBobBobBobDave on

There isn’t anything this slimy fuck wouldn’t defend.

    19. UuusernameWith4Us on

In the view of senior labour MPs, when it comes to the elites socialising with Epstein it’s “I don’t think we should  should regard everyone as guilty by association,”  but when the little people wanting privacy online they’re “on the side of predators like Savile”.

    20. Not really any answer he can give that doesn’t prolong the story. If he says “I don’t know anything about it” then it implies a lack of support for Mandelson and places pressure on Starmer to investigate/remove him. If he expresses support, it makes it look like the government is supporting someone with questionable history. They need to find a better line for this. Was it even a good idea to put Mandelson in that post in the first place, given he’s always been a bit problematic? Chickens home to roost I guess.
