“Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said his country would formally request the invocation of NATO’s Article 4 in response to the violation of his country’s airspace by 19 Russian drones, some of which were shot down.”

    2. ElderMillenialSage on

Rusians will keep pushing, until they are pushed back. Grow a spine, West – do fucking something.

    3. Any-Original-6113 on

Poland will get a lot of advice.
This is where Europe is strong

    4. malphasalex on

Oh no, they’ll have a meeting about it. Putin has really gone too far this time. They might have even two meeting to really send a message.

    5. And he said that a lot of this drones where directly from belarus to Poland, worth to mention btw.

    6. That’s one step better then sending a strongly worded letter, so that is that. Unfortunately, provocations will continue unless an action, like an aerial exclusion zone, is decided.

Hitler took neither “no” nor “yes, but” as an answer, and neither will Putin.

      >NATO’s Article 4 states: “The Parties will consult together whenever, in the opinion of any of them, the territorial integrity, political independence or security of any of the Parties is threatened.”

      also

      >NATO is **not** treating the drone incursion into Polish territory as an attack, a NATO source told Reuters on Wednesday

Probably nothing will come out of this i am afraid

    8. Electrical_Quality_6 on

“What you did, Mr. Putin, was really really bad. We beg you not to do it again.”

      *Putin does it again*

“Ok, that’s it, mister! We’ve warned you! No ice cream for you today!”

    10. LeastLeader2312 on

Well damn, that’s one number below 5, shit is getting super serial now.

Hopefully they actually do something to punish Russia

    11. CyberKillua on

All these posts are so cringe, none of you saying invocate article 5 would fight in a war if you were asked.

    12. Glittering-Gene7215 on

missclick, they wanted to press “5”. 4 and 5 are close to each other
      (O_O)

    13. Economy-Fox-5559 on

Of course we can expect Trump to be fully co operative and committed to taking this seriously along with his European counterparts. I’m sure he’ll *really* tell Putin off for this one… */s*

    14. Longsock8 on

Russia continues to take the piss and make a laughing stock of NATO. All this does is play into Trumps agenda of making NATO look useless so they go begging to him for help, which in turn will give the orange turd his peace prize.

All this Russian aggression stems from Trump who has emboldened the enemies of the west to unite. Frankly Putin will not stop as he doesn’t see anyone as a serious threat.

    15. OnCnditonOfAnonymity on

This never would’ve happened if TRUMP was president. Sorry, I just had to say it.

    16. Localone2412 on

I maybe geographically challenged but looking at a map (google) how does Russia, even launching from Belarus, accidentally fly drones over Poland heading for Ukraine ? It seems much too far west.

    17. Independent-Day-9170 on

Article 4 is “formal consultations with other member states”. Poland wants to ask the other member states what to do about their violent crackhead neighbor.

      Article 5 is the “Shit’s Getting Real^(TM) ” one.

    18. Fancy_Ad681 on

Poland is the last standing warden of the west. So much respect for Poland.

    19. ACTIVATE ARTICLE 5!

LET‘S SEND DRONES INTO THE KREMLIN!!!

      OR EVEN BETTER PUTIN’S HOME!

    20. SmallGreenArmadillo on

Nato will do nothing, again, and then Russia will do something, again

    21. Nith_ael on

Hate to be the “nothing ever happens” guy, but I can’t wait for NATO members to unequivocally condemn Russia’s provocative actions and then go back home, content with a job well done

    22. Be3Al2Si6O18-Cr on

      Is it finally happening?

The strongly worded meeting that is…

    23. MiiIRyIKs on

Please please please, I know it’s a risk but we can’t keep sending strongly worded letters, we need to do more, even if it leads to escalation, I hope something comes of this and honestly I trust that there’s some humanity left in all of us and even if we have a direct confrontation we won’t nuke each other to shit but maybe I’m naive

    24. arbicus123 on

Interesting how this has happened right after trump announced he will cut defense spending for the baltics and right before their joint military exercises with belarus

    25. Toffeljegarn on

Seeing as the travel route for the drones was from Belarus –> Poland, and not Russia –> Ukraine –> Polan, ids say it makes sense.

    26. I assume the fear is that triggering article 5 will either reveal U.S. as an axis power, damage NATO beyond recovery, soft kick off WWIII…… Or all three.

Russia wouldn’t be pushing its luck like this if it wasn’t ready to lay its cards on the table.

The question right now is if avoiding a hard war by losing a soft power war is a sound strategy.

    27. Shirolicious on

Alright that is good. Hopefully it will also lead to some sort of response. Doing nothing is a clear sign of weakness

    28. JadedArgument1114 on

My daily stupid theory is that Russia wants to escalate this to the point that NATO starts getting kind of involved so that Putin can make peace and blame it on NATO involvement and not because the Russian military has gotten wrecked by Ukraine. You cant show weakness as a dictator and it makes no sense for Russia to want an actual fight with Europe because we would fucking wreck Russia. All they have is nukes but so we do we and no one wins a nuclear exchange.
