They have 94 (as of 2024) and another 90 Mirage 2000. Surely they could spare a few more?
Thanks! Always appreciated. One cool thing about this whole situation is how well European forces worked together: Polish airforce along with Dutch fighter jets and Italian too.
But in the long run we have to work on much cheaper ways of shooting drones down. Modern jets with expensive missiles against ultra cheap drones is like driving tanks against mosquitoes.
French President’s statement on X:
“Following the Russian drone incursions into Poland, I have decided to deploy three Rafale fighter jets to contribute to the protection of Polish airspace and of NATO’s Eastern Flank together with our Allies.
I made this commitment yesterday to the Polish Prime Minister.
I have also discussed this matter with the NATO Secretary General and with the British Prime Minister, who is likewise engaged in the defense of the Eastern Flank.
The security of the European continent is our top priority.
We will not yield to Russia’s growing intimidation.”
