Fundamentally we can’t just keep depending on the private sector to bail us out. Market based solutions can only take us so far when ‘the market’ is acting increasingly erratically, irrationally and short-termist.
The NHS is one of the biggest employers in the world. The British University sector is one of the most advanced and well respected in the world. Why can’t we research and manufacture our own drugs rather than depending on all these private companies?
