Ciao a tutti,
Mia madre ha sempre avuto una passione per le culture e la storia antiche in generale. Ha insegnato a me e ai miei fratelli così tanto nel corso degli anni.
Con le svolte particolari che la sua vita ha preso, ha portato a lei non vedere mai la Grecia o nessuno dei suoi fantastici punti di riferimento della storia. Qualche mese fa mentre guardavo qualche documentario l’ho sentito sospirare per sé: "Immagino di aver accettato che non vedrò mai nulla da solo, da quella bellissima antica storia greca".
Quindi ora che si avvicina a 70 e io sono a metà degli trenta, ho deciso che è ora di restituire qualcosa. Il prossimo mese la sto prendendo!
Vorrei condividere l’itinerario che ho pianificato ormai (le uniche cose già prenotate sono i voli e i biglietti Acropoli). Non sono mai stato neanche. Quindi i suggerimenti sono i benvenuti!
- Cose da visitare o vedere che mancano a tuo avviso, ma devono anche essere raggiungibili dal punto di vista della distanza. Quindi, non troppo lontano dalla rotta generale, immagino. Stavo pensando di affittare solo una piccola auto all’aeroporto per tutta la durata del nostro viaggio. Inoltre, considerando la sua età e le sue ginocchia cattive … dovrebbero essere evitate lunghe salite o escursioni da un parcheggio.
- Suggerimenti per hotel più economici ma comunque belli (sto pagando felicemente per tutto, ma ovviamente devo anche tenere d’occhio i costi)
- Suggerimenti per ristoranti belli ma convenienti e/o piatti specifici lì.
- Cose generali che sono buone da sapere (cultura/sicurezza/traffico/qualunque cosa …)
- Ho aggiunto distanze e tempo previsto per passare a visitare alcuni posti. Per favore fatemi sapere se sono finito/sottovalutato qualcosa!

for athens i dont have any recommendations but for:
D3 you can drive from athens to mycene first then epidauros , its about 1 hour and1/2 ath-myc and another 1 1/2 myc-epid
book a hotel in nafplion for the night and you can visit the castle overseeing the city or have a nice walk in the old city (first capital of greece after the liberation from the ottomans) tiryns is 5 minutes from nafplion so you can squeeze that too in the afternoon
for the food try to avoid the tourist traps inside the old city a good restaurant is called Πυξιδα picsida (compass) on the road leading to karathonas beach . black sheep is the name for a sheep and pig roasted in a wood oven place but its only take away and another restaurant is called stavlos with a nice garden and local meet
D5 try to make a stop at patras and visit the castle and the archeological museum there, there is also a roman theater but its been renovated right now so its closed, also a coffee by the sea will be a good idea , patras is 100km before corinth as you return from olympia
it would be a shame not to visit delphi you can do it if take the long road from patras to athens and skip corinth

Dude you need to try to get a ticket to watch a live show at epidauros! It’s incredible. Get cushions before you go (this is a must), and don’t book one that’s 4 hours long because there are no breaks.
Nauplion is a beautiful city near epidauros.
Some of those days are very heavily packed, the roads around the pelloponese are pretty tiring to drive so even if it looks like a main road on Google maps it is at times not even 2 lanes. Don’t get a big car. Likewise tbe acropolis and some of the other ruins are very tiringto walk up and down from, and there is no shade. I’d say maybe have stuff you’re willing to skip as a backup plan. I don’t know how energetic your mum is, but she may be exhausted.
It sounds lovely though, she’s gonna love it and you’ll have a great time! Go out for dinner near the acropolis, try fredo espressos and pork gyros!
I would dedicate one more day in Athens to be honest. I know that you want to squeeze the most you can but this itinerary is exhausting (taking into account that your mother is not 25 anymore). The Acropolis museum is a must (even more beautiful than the Acropolis itself). Maybe try to visit only Athens and Nafplio and leave Olympia out. Corinth is on your way to Nafplio so you can just stop there on your way.
On day 1 I am not sure you will manage to do all that plus go to peiraias port. I would say stay at the Athens area maybe.
