I lowkey want to see Europe do it just to see what will happen when the hornet’s nest is kicked.

    2. orgin_org on

They are already hitting NATO countries by supporting Russia. So NATO countries will just have to decide what costs them more. An endless war/A win for Russia funded by China or retaliatory sanctions from China.

It’s way past time to put consequences on China for funding and supporting a war in Europe.

China is not a friendly nation to NATO since China is actively working agains it.

The title is misleading, he’s talking about secondary sanctions on China.

This is good news and means we should apply it.

China is in this weird situation. They don’t want Russia to win. They also don’t want Russia to lose. They want this to continue.

That’s why they build the drones for Russia but not too many and the drones aren’t ‘too good’. If ever they were, or the tide swings and Russia starts winning this, watch as China will back off.

If China says this is so bad they will ‘hit back’, that means they think this will have a significant effect.

Glad to get that outside confirmation 🙂

Being poor and tired and terrified of what’s happening everywhere, I’ve reached a level of exhaustion where it’s all become “needs moar popcorn”.

    6. Mask off-moment.

Stop being dependent on China, dear Europe and USA.

    7. They will send a very strongly worded letter. What are we gonna do?!

    8. CedricTheCurtain on

And then China will find itself sanctioned/tarriffed.

      All swings and roundabouts.

I dont understand, china has a lot to lose with europe (since they have alot of investiments here), why dfuck they sided russia?

Let’s be honest, Europe has no leverage against China. Chineses can withstand much more than your average european. EU wont put up any tariffs against China, because that would be an economic disaster for the whole continent, let alone bad will of people, when they are told, that this or that medication/product/etc isnt available, because EU is in tariff war in China because of Ukraine. No sane politician in EU will allow anything like that to happen, since that would mean the end of their government.

EU is unfortunately a victim of bad political and economic decisions in the last 20 years. They’ve been warned many times in the past, that being so dependent on CHina is going to kick our asses sometime in the future, yet they kept insisting with strengthening economic ties with China, thinking “What could possibly go wrong?”.

    11. The EU isn’t going to follow Trumps directions, the goodwill has long been exhausted. Especially as Trump wants the EU to act first, and honestly, he will do the same afterwards.

we all know china is our enemy yet we don’t want to take steps in ripping the leech off

    13. They’ve weaponized the Wests own consumerism and greed. Plain and simple.

We have to change our culture and our values if we ever hope to get ahead of this.

I don’t understand why China even wants something as aggressive as Russia running loose, wouldn’t they rather a stable market to sell their stuff to?

    15. morbihann on

And that is why you don’t announce future ideas for sanctions. It gives them time to set the stage.

    16. quintopinomar on

And Trump wants the Nobel Peace Prize.
The turmoil he creates does the world no good.

    17. Can someone ELI me on how tariffs would hurt them if they buy directly from Russia?

    18. Ok_Photo_865 on

Life will go on 🤷‍♂️ BYD might suffer some slumps though 🤷‍♂️

    19. greenpowerman99 on

How do they plan on hitting back?
      Refusing to sell us things?

    20. kplowlander on

No need to be the tip of the spear for US trade war with China.

    21. I swear they always say “slap tariffs” why are they always slapped on?

    22. PlasmaMatus on

Ukraine is slapping tariffs on Russian oil, one refinery after another.

    23. Easy solution then, we give the Ukraine the greenlight to hit every single Oil Refinery, Oil Storage Facility, Transportation Pipes, Oil Port Facilities. From Kirishi to Omsk. No oil, no tariffs needed.

    24. Shirolicious on

Very misleading title if you actually read the content.

    25. I mean ever since Xi made that threatening speech, announced China’s “No Limits Partnership” with Russia, and a recognized sovereign state was invaded I think it’s been clear this is their project to test western resolve and come out victory.

Now “unstoppable China” which was acting panicky and irrational before the time of war, who went quite and roleplayer a “moderate peacekeepers” as a century defining conflict unfolded is acting panicky and irrational, unable to use their influence, orders of magnitudes higher than the Wests over Russia to get them to stop their imperialist conquest.

If we submit to Paramount Leader Xi’s autocrat-friendly future or “multipolarity” and as he dresses it as democracies are under active siege by his smiling photo op friends, Putin and Kim we need to understand this is the kind of violence and new “Yes you can terrorize your neighbor with drones and threaten nuclear war liberally” that may come with the package deal and to normalize at our own discretion with this in mind.
