“It’s okay guys, I’m just incompetent!”

      well that’s, uh

    2. Thatsnotwotisaid on

Never seems to know anything about anything this guy

    3. TheLimeyLemmon on

There’s no way he didn’t know. It’s not a new grand revelation Mandelson was an Epstein-buddy slime.

    4. DrFabulous0 on

Bullshit! Had it been public knowledge, then you wouldn’t have appointed him.

    5. BobBobBobBobBobDave on

      But….

Everyone knew. If you didn’t know, then, why didn’t you know? How crap was your vetting?

    6. Bridgeboy95 on

This is where its gonna go into he said/she said.

Mandelson seems to be briefing the press that Starmer did know the full context and Starmer is saying he didin’t.

Someone is lying, and keep in mind a a ton of this like most of this was already known in 2019.

edit- Also Starmer will have to be very very careful on how he answers during PMQs, some could argue he was misleading Parliament, which Starmer himself has said is a resigning matter..even if you for some reason are a Starmer fan..he really could have fucked himself here.

    7. No-Department-8586 on

I hope comedy writers are copying this down. This material is golden.

    8. MetalBawx on

      Bullshit.

Mandelsons criminal behaviour was known as far back as 1998 and since then he’s only continued to flaunt the law, the sorry excuse for a human has spent most of his political career as a known crook and Kier really thinks people will buy that he didn’t know he was hiring a corrupt pile of shit?

We already know the truth. Mandelson has friends in US business circles so when his protege McSweeny put him up for the job you signed off on it because your too far up your own arse to see the problem.

If your going to lie “Sir” Kier then at least come up with a belivable one.

    9. Puzzleheaded-Key2212 on

thank god the end of Starmer, let us pray this nightmare is all over soon.

    10. Ok-Journalist612 on

Good move Keith throwing your own back room team under the bus to save your own skin.

I mean what’s the worst that can happen now!

    11. You can’t really plead ignorance when it comes to Epstein links.

He’s an experienced lawyer, as soon as you hear the words “previous association with Epstein” you should run a mile.

I like Starmer, but he’s showing himself to be either incredibly naive or politically incompetent. Either way, it’s not a trait we need in a PM.

    12. ChaiTeaAndBoundaries on

This job is very stressful, he is completely grey after only 1 year in office.

    13. tacitusvanderlinde on

      How didn’t he know?

If everybody else already knew, of course he did as well

    14. lordsteve1 on

He was a sleazy shit-bag way back in the Blair years so it would have been questionable appointing him even without the Epstein goings on.
Why can’t they just appoint an actual decent human being for jobs and then just maybe people would start to respect our politicians a tiny bit.

    15. Remarkable_Misty on

This is sickening he did know it was reported that he was told about it beforehand and still put him in the position why does this man keep lying and lying to the British public??

    16. parasoralophus on

It’s weird how I seem to have known more about Mandelson than Keir Starmer. I pointed out at the time his connections to Epstein and how he shouldn’t be appointed.

He’s either lying or he didn’t do any kind of due diligence at all. Or there’s some even more incriminating stuff to come out that wasn’t known about I suppose.

Any way you spin it it’s bad.

    17. Heuchelei on

Not good enough I’m afraid. What a spectacular failure he has been as PM so far.

    18. RightlyKnightly on

He knew. He just also knew that Epstein’s BFF was our best chance at having low tariffs – and he was likely right.

    19. you_aint_seen_me- on

Shame. No excuse, you’re running a Government, not a lemonade stall.

    20. jodrellbank_pants on

Errr wasn’t he standing by him the other day when it all started to come out with his picture in the lounger

    21. Toastlove on

Epstein must give so many people sleepless nights, even though he’s been dead for years now. There’s very few long term top tier rich/influential/establishment people who had nothing to do with him.

    22. Longsock8 on

Absolute bollocks. He’s got MI5, MI6 at his disposal so you’re telling me he didn’t know? Pathetic sap

    23. Cute_Ad_9730 on

I have great respect for people saying ‘I got it wrong’ how many critical decisions have you made this week. I have no respect for Mandelson but as a slimy negotiator against a a slimy idiot POTUS he may have been the perfect match. Recent revelations make that untenable. That’s politics and reality. (edit) Trump needs dealing with like the child he is. Anyone who has dealt with people management appoints certain people with certain skills to achieve a conclusion up to the point that they are no longer viable.

    24. AdviceHefty4561 on

‘What he knows now’ is that the general public are not as ignorant about high profile paedos as he thought so he wouldn’t have tried to get away with it if he’d known people would be able to use the internet to find out the info that a vetting process apparently couldn’t.

    25. FuzzBuket on

I’m sorry but if the general public knows he’s best pals with Epstein and has visited the island you can bet your bottom dollar that the whips and the papers knew.

Heck the secret service warned him.

    26. Has there ever been a more weak willed PM? This guy seems to u turn with every gust of public opinion.
Is it asking too much to expect a modicum of leadership, what does he actually stand for?

    27. GianfrancoZoey on

If we (random members of the public) can understand the extent of Mandelson and Epstein’s relationship then there is absolutely no excuse for the fucking government.

The only ‘new’ information is the exact contents of the birthday book and the email explicitly stating support post-conviction. The prior was known about just not in detail, the latter could be pretty safely assumed based on their closeness and the fact that Petey stayed at his place.

Saying shit like this now is just rubbing salt in the wound. They are utterly useless

    28. Sudden_Question7490 on

The Gentleman who raised the motion raised the very valid point that Mandelson lost his post twice for lying about a policy then corruption (please correct me if Im wrong though). Point is, that it was all in the public domain for years prior.
And an ambassador has very very high clearance.
In other words, nonsense, this needs to be discussed openly and immediately as a massive lapse in judgement for the Prime minister.

    29. tipytopmain on

“Had I known ~~what I know now~~ **he’d be found out eventually**, I’d have never appointed him.” FTFY.

    30. judochop1 on

Didn’t security services tell him Mandelson was dodgy still? No way he didn’t know. I liked Starmer but I don’t think PM is for him.

    31. Sea-Caterpillar-255 on

I find this kind of interesting as Epstein was all about underage girls and Mandelson is gay. So he should be one of the few politicians who DOES have plausible deniability…

    32. mcmanus2099 on

      This man.

He has the habit of choosing the one option that is the worst on offer. The one thing he cannot claim is he didn’t know these things already.

Just own up to it man. Tell us you knew but you also knew he could deal with Trump & his experience was needed. That you take full responsibility for his appointment and that it is right he leaves his post now. Front Up

    33. Greenpadmeds on

He knew, they all bloody knew ffs, why we put up with politicians bullcrap is beyond me, they are all business people, all are millionaires with “fingers in many pies” across the chamber they debate whatever is on the list for that day, but the reality is, they are all friends & acquaintances who do business together, they know what each other is doing & I bet quite a few have some strange kinks. They know what’s going on.

    34. milkonyourmustache on

Anyone involved is either a nonce or a protector of nonces.

    35. Slapped91 on

      Bullshit – he always knew.

As an aside I’ve never known anybody so out of their depth in their job as Starmer.

Honestly the entire Labour front bench have been totally incompetent at best and downright criminal at worst.

    36. Small-Percentage-181 on

Has some new evidence come to light of late?

It was well known Mandelson was mates with Epstein before he was appointed ambassador.

    37. ThatGuyMaulicious on

But apparently you knew about all the information so is it Im a blind idiot or knowingly trying to snake my way through it?

    38. Either hes lying or doesnt do any due diligence on appointments.

    39. Ok-Hedgehog-4455 on

Of course. The guy who marketed himself as the serious, competent lawyer who would provide a period of stable leadership for Britain is actually perennially clueless about everything that’s happening. Didn’t you all know?

    40. snakeoildriller on

MI5 needs a jolly good talking to then! Starmer’s talking bollocks, or he’s desperately fighting for survival.
