There was a little joke during the financial crisis that UBS stood for Used to Be Smart. Now I guess it’ll just stand for Used to Be Swiss. Like the article says, the threat is not new, but there’s a saying in their potential new home: Shit or get off the pot.

Guess their „bags“ are getting too heavy and they need a place where it’s easier to hide their liabilities..

Talking about weak threats.

Don’t threaten me with a good time! If this all means that the Swiss taxpayer won’t be in the hook if this systemically important bank goes bust, that’s all good.

Our federal council are a bunch of spineless cunts who would never call their bluff. The swiss market is a gold mine and them moving headquarters would lead to most clients opting for a swiss bank.

The first paragraph:
“Rumours of UBS moving to the United States have resurfaced, just as the Swiss Senate is due to take up the issue of tightening capital requirements for institutions considered “systemic” in Switzerland on Monday.”
So they are just trying to very obviously blackmail the government into getting everything that they want. Good riddance.

It makes great sense. The USA has proven it is a kleptocracy ran by criminals, frauds, and pedophiles. What better place to be an evil business.

Are they also considering stopping being a bank? Maybe they could sell burgers instead?

Is this good for Switzerland?

Credit Suisse should have been cut in pieces and merged with various smaller banks in CH

whoever is shitting around in here doesn’t know that this would be quite a hit. If you have ever tried to get a substantial financing, you know that there are not too many players around.
I don’t like them eiter, really I don’t, but… it would be a loss for many Swiss companies if they had to go to BNP and Commerzbank who just don’t have the same focus on Switzerland.
I didn’t know what was outstanding about Swiss banking until I had to work with a german bank for a german affiliate.
